INSIDE THE COLLAPSE

A Purple Rush Analysis Series

FINAL EPISODE — THE BIGGER PICTURE

After everything that happened this conference, one thing became very clear:

Hindi kulang sa talent ang Converge FiberXers.

In fact, arguably isa sila sa may pinaka-talented at pinaka-athletic na roster sa buong PBA ngayon.

On paper, they had almost everything:
• size
• athleticism
• shot creation
• transition offense
• rebounding
• defensive potential
• depth

Their frontline alone had an average height of around 6’7”, with versatile players capable of playing multiple positions.

There were stretches this conference na talagang mukhang contender ang Converge.

But this conference also exposed several major issues:
• late import adjustments
• painful close losses
• inconsistent crunch-time ex*****on
• unclear offensive hierarchy
• defensive lapses in crucial moments

At sa isang maikling conference format, maliit na mistakes quickly become massive consequences.

One or two wins could’ve completely changed their playoff situation.

And iyon siguro ang pinaka-frustrating part bilang fan.

Because this wasn’t a team getting completely dominated every game.

Most of the time, they were competitive.

Most of the time, they were within reach.

Which makes the “what if” questions even bigger.

What if mas maaga nag-click ang import situation?

What if na-close nila yung crucial games against Terrafirma or SMB?

What if mas maaga nilang nahanap ang true identity ng team?

What if naging mas consistent sila defensively late in games?

But despite all the disappointment…

there’s still a reason why many fans remain hopeful.

Because the potential is obvious.

Hindi mo maituturo ang:
• size
• athleticism
• natural talent
• versatility
• star potential

And Converge already has those pieces.

What they may need now is:
• continuity
• chemistry
• maturity
• role clarity
• and a stronger identity moving forward

The scary part?

If this roster finally figures everything out next conference…

this team could become one of the most dangerous teams in the entire league.

Because sometimes…

the most dangerous teams are the ones that learned from failure.

And maybe this conference was simply part of that process.

Hindi pa tapos ang story ng Converge.

Maybe…

this was only the beginning.

EPISODE 4 — SIZE WASN’T ENOUGH

May 6’7 Justin Arana.
May 6’8 Justine Baltazar.
May 6’10 Donovan Smith
May 6’6 Jonnel Policarpio
May 6’6 Larry Muyang
At May Calvin Abueva bringing physicality and hustle.

There were games na:
• late rotations happened
• shooters were left open
• second chance points hurt them
• transition defense broke down
• crucial defensive rebounds slipped away

At sa dikit na conference standings, maliliit na defensive lapses can completely change a season.

One of the biggest examples was the overtime loss against Terrafirma.

Despite the size advantage on paper, Terrafirma import Mubashar Ali grabbed 25 rebounds.

Against San Miguel, June Mar Fajardo also imposed his presence late with 17 rebounds.

Kailangan connected, disciplined, at consistent ka defensively from start to finish.
At minsan, iyon ang difference between talented teams and true contenders.

There were also moments na parang pagod na ang team defensively late in games — especially sa transition coverage at rotations after broken plays.

At kapag mabilis ang pace ng laro ng Converge offensively, minsan naaapektuhan din ang balance nila pagdating sa getting back on defense.

The frustrating part?

You can actually see the potential.

There were stretches this conference na sobrang ganda ng defensive energy nila:
• active hands
• fast rotations
• aggressive rebounding
• forced turnovers
• high-pressure transition defense

Kapag locked in sila defensively, ramdam mo talaga na kaya nilang makipagsabayan kahit sa top teams.

Which makes the inconsistency even more noticeable.

The scary part?

Most of these issues are fixable.

Because the talent, size, athleticism, and effort are already there.

What Converge may need moving forward is:
• more defensive discipline
• clearer communication
• better late-game composure
• and a more consistent defensive identity

Because in championship basketball…

Offense can win games. But defense usually wins the biggest moments.

Stay tuned for the Final Episode. 👀
Next, we’ll talk about the bigger picture — and why despite all the disappointment this conference, Converge may still be much closer to becoming a true contender than many people think. 💜

Sometimes we have to fail… not because we are weak, but because failure teaches us the lessons that success can never fully explain.

🐂 INSIDE BULLY TYPE — Wendell McKines
Bull strong.
📌 Strengths: rebounding, toughness, inside scoring, physicality, hustle at athleticism
📌 Weakness: limitado ang outside shooting at minsan nagiging predictable kapag siksikan ang depensa

⚔️ 2-WAY PLAYER — Arizona Reid
Kaya niyang dumepensa sa elite scorers habang kaya ring mag-take over offensively kapag kailangan.
📌 Strengths: perimeter defense, shot creation, transition offense, clutch scoring, versatility

🎰 SCORING MACHINE — Myles Powell
Modern-day scoring guard na kayang gumawa ng puntos kahit heavily defended. Explosive scorer si Powell — mabilis uminit, can create his own shots, at dangerous sa perimeter at off the dribble.
📌 Strengths: elite shot creation, perimeter scoring, instant offense, takeover ability
📌 Weakness: dahil offense-first ang laro niya, may pagkakataong naaapektuhan ang team defensive balance at ball movement. Defensive availability is also a big “?”.

💯 MR. DO IT ALL — Marcus Blakely
📌 Strengths: all-around impact, basketball IQ, defense, rebounding, passing, chemistry fit

🔥 Inside dominance?
🔥 Two-way versatility?
🔥 Pure scoring punch?

EPISODE 3 — TOO MUCH TALENT, NO CLEAR IDENTITY

Then nandiyan pa si Calvin Abueva bringing energy, toughness, rebounding, at veteran intensity every single game.

On paper?

Championship-level depth.

• Fast-paced ba?
• Transition-heavy?
• Defensive-minded?
• Inside-out offense?
• Guard-oriented attack?

Minsan offense runs through the bigs.
Minsan puro transition at chaos basketball.
Minsan halfcourt-heavy.

At dahil sobrang daming capable scorers at playmakers, may stretches na parang wala pang fully established hierarchy pagdating sa crunch time possessions.

And while versatility is a strength… consistency usually comes from clarity.

And maybe that’s normal for a team na sobrang daming bagong adjustments, personalities, at talent combinations this conference.

The scary part?

Because if Converge eventually figures out:
• the hierarchy
• the chemistry
• the crunch-time roles
• and the true identity of the team

then this roster could become one of the most dangerous teams in the league next conference.

Talent wins games.

Identity wins consistency.

EPISODE 2 — THE LOSSES THEY SHOULD’VE WON

And in a short PBA conference, iyon ang klase ng losses na eventually bumabalik to haunt you sa standings.

The biggest example was the painful overtime loss against Terrafirma.

Pero basketball is never played on paper.

Terrafirma import Mubashar Ali exploded for a monster performance of 50 points and 25 rebounds — one of the craziest individual games this conference.

Mas masakit?

Converge completely went cold in overtime.

A game that looked winnable suddenly became one of the biggest turning points of their season.

Then nandiyan din yung close loss against San Miguel.

Halos dikitan hanggang dulo. May pagkakataon ang Converge na kunin ang momentum, pero sa crucial moments, experience and ex*****on took over for SMB.

June Mar Fajardo delivered another dominant performance with 27 points and 17 rebounds, while San Miguel made the bigger plays late in the game.

Those are the kinds of losses na sobrang hirap tanggapin bilang fan — because you can clearly see na kaya naman manalo.

And that’s what makes this conference even more frustrating for many Converge supporters - Hindi sila blown out most of the time. Hindi rin sila obviously outmatched sa talent.

In fact, maraming games na sila mismo ang mas athletic, mas bata, at mas malalim ang rotation.

Pero when games became tight and pressure-filled, doon naging costly ang maliit na lapses:
• missed defensive rotations
• untimely turnovers
• cold stretches offensively
• missed free throws
• failure to close quarters strong

At the end of the conference, those small moments became massive consequences.

Sa sobrang dikit ng standings, kahit isang extra win lang sana could have completely changed the playoff picture.

And iyon ang pinaka-mabigat isipin bilang fan.

The scary part?

Most of those losses were still within reach until the final minutes.

Which means this team may actually be closer to becoming a true contender than many people think.

Sa tingin niyo, anong game ang pinaka malaking “what if” moment ng Converge this conference?

Stay tuned for Episode 3. 👀
Next, we’ll talk about why having too much talent can sometimes become a problem — and how Converge may have struggled to find a true identity this conference. 💜

11/05/2026

Alam kong medyo malayo pa ang Governors’ Cup mga boss… pero kung kayo ang tatanungin, mas maganda ba as early as now kumuha na ng import ang Converge para maka-gel agad sa team? O masyado pang maaga?

A Purple Rush Analysis Series

EPISODE 1 — IMPORT SITUATION

Kylor Kelley had the tools — height, mobility, rim protection, at defensive presence.

And in a short conference like the PBA Commissioner’s Cup, every game matters.

Converge started digging themselves into a hole habang naghahanap pa sila ng tamang rhythm bilang grupo.

Then dumating si Donovan Smith.

In his debut game against Phoenix, Donovan Smith immediately produced 32 points and 12 rebounds — giving fans a glimpse of what Converge could’ve looked like if that chemistry and fit had been established much earlier in the conference.

The problem?

Too late na.

By the time nahanap ng Converge ang mas bagay na import fit, naghahabol na sila sa standings at nasa must-win situation na halos every game.

And in a conference this competitive, late adjustments usually come with a price.

Basketball is always a team effort.

The scary part?

Which makes the “what if” question even bigger.
