OUR STORY
With the help of SMART Communications and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and in line with the Philippine National Police Maritime Group’s (PNP-MG) mandate to sustain the protection of the maritime environment, the PNP-MG was able to acquire and launch its very own dragon boat on February 15, 2017. Said boat is named “DALOY” which is derived from the PNP M
aritime Group’s SMS reporting hotline – DALOY3456 - where the general public can report maritime environmental crimes and wildlife trafficking at sea. It is the Unit’s hope that by promoting dragon boat as a sport, marine environmental awareness, particularly the hotline, is promoted as well. Along with the launch of the DALOY boat, the PNP Maritime Dragon Boat Team was also formed in the same year. Team members are composed mainly of Maritime Group police personnel who have served for at least 2 years of field duty and who possess the physical attributes and discipline of a well-rounded police athlete. Paddler-members have also qualified in the fitness standards set forth by the PNP-MG Coaching Staff who are likewise police athletes and former members of the Philippine National Dragon Boat Team. Following the DALOY boat launching and PNP-MG Dragon Boat Team formation, the Team has consistently placed in the top ranks in every race it joined thereafter, namely:
