🪶 Backstory

In the remote Cordilleran highlands, where fog kisses the terraces and mountain winds carry ancestral chants, Bagsik Gumad was once a quiet farmer-hunter. His tribe was known for their sacred connection to the Anito—the ancient spirits who guarded the land.

One night, during a blood moon, a minor Batala portal tore open in their ancestral domain. From it emerged a spirit devourer known as the Lilim ng Dugo, a monstrous entity feeding on life energy. With only his tribe’s ancient relic—the Sibat ng Nuno—Bagsik fought to protect his people.

When the final blow struck, the spear absorbed the spirit’s essence—but the energy flowed through Bagsik himself. He survived, but his soul was forever changed. Now, he bears a curse and gift: every life he takes—be it beast, spirit, or man—feeds him new strength.

Yet every soul absorbed also whispers inside him.
The Anito call him the Bantay Anito—the one who keeps balance between life and death, light and corruption.

⚡ Powers and Abilities

Essence Absorption: Gains power and skills from slain creatures—strength, endurance, elemental surges.

Ancestral Overload: Each absorbed spirit amplifies his aura, but causes pain and spiritual noise that can drive him mad.

Sibat ng Nuno (Spirit Balancer): The relic spear channels excess dark energy into the earth. Under a full moon, a babaylan can purify him through ancient rites.

Soul Resonance Marks: Each absorbed life manifests as a glowing tribal rune on his body; too many at once burns him from within.

Mountain Bond: His powers heighten near stones, soil, and fog; nature amplifies his spirit link.

Anito Connection: Can summon echoes of the spirits he’s absorbed for guidance—or vengeance.

🌕 Personality

Bagsik walks the path between man and spirit—quiet, proud, and burdened.
He protects villages from spirit rifts and dark creatures but refuses human praise, knowing every victory feeds the darkness inside him.
He often seeks the aid of babaylan from nearby tribes to cleanse his energy. To many, he’s both hero and omen—the one who kills to keep the living safe.

“Bahala na si Bathala” ay isang awiting tumatagos sa puso — alay sa mga naiwan, sa mga minamahal na hindi na natin mahagkan, sa mga pamilyang kailangang iwanan, at sa mga panalanging binubulong sa hangin kapag wala nang salitang kayang magsabi.

Ikinukuwento nito ang huling sandali ng isang nilalang na nasa bingit ng pamamaalam, pilit pa ring kumakapit sa masasayang alaala, kahit unti-unti nang nilulunod ng katahimikan ang kanyang hininga. Sa bawat taludtod, hindi paghingi ng saklolo ang isinisigaw, kundi kapayapaan — at ang taimtim na pagdalangin para sa kaligtasan ng mga naiwan.

Nakaugat sa malalim na paniniwala sa kapalaran at pagkakamit ng katahimikan sa piling ng Maykapal, ang awit na ito ay isang larawang-pinta ng pag-ibig, sakripisyo, at buong pusong pagbitaw. Isa itong himno para sa mga lihim na laban ng damdamin — at isang pagpupugay sa mga taong ipinagkatiwala ang huling pag-asa sa dakilang Bathala, sa oras na sila'y tawagin na ng tadhana.
