Rene “THE ISRAEL” Catalan Jr. is a young, strong, disciplined, and well-rounded MMA athlete from the Philippines with a remarkable fighting background and a passion for becoming one of the country’s next elite MMA champions.
🥋 A FIGHTER BORN INTO THE MARTIAL ARTS
Rene started practicing Wushu and combat martial arts at just 3 years old.
No one had to teach him how to love the sport. As a young child, he watched his father and founder, Rene “THE CHALLENGER” Catalan, compete on the international stage in the Wushu World Championships, Asian Games, and SEA Games.
Those experiences inspired Rene Jr. to follow his father’s footsteps and build his own path in combat sports.
At only 9 years old, Rene moved to Manila together with his siblings to train and focus more seriously on MMA under the guidance of his father and the Catalan Fighting System.
🏆 25 AMATEUR MMA VICTORIES
Through years of hard work, discipline, and continuous training, Rene “THE ISRAEL” Catalan Jr. has achieved 25 victories in amateur MMA competition.
His experience against different styles and opponents has helped him develop into a well-rounded fighter with the skills, athleticism, discipline, and fighting IQ needed to compete at a high level.
🌏 INTERNATIONAL MMA EXPERIENCE
In the 1st Asian Mixed Martial Arts Championship held in China, Rene defeated MMA athletes from different countries and successfully advanced toward the championship stage, putting himself in position to fight for the Gold Medal.
Unfortunately, due to the organization's strict weight policy, Rene was disqualified after weighing 2 pounds over the required limit.
Despite his performance and victories inside the competition, he was unable to receive the Silver Medal because of the organization's rules.
It was a heartbreaking experience—but instead of giving up, Rene used it as motivation to become even stronger.
🥉 PROVING HIMSELF AGAIN
Rene later represented the Philippines in the 1st Asian MMA Championship held at Resorts World Pasay, where he captured a Bronze Medal and received a cash incentive.
This achievement further demonstrated his ability to compete against talented athletes on the international stage.
Through his Consistency, Sacrifice Discipline ,Passion, Determination, Dedication He Won a Gold Medal in World Wushu Combat World Championship .
🔥 RECENT URCC VICTORY
On July 18, Rene returned to action in a recent URCC fight, defeating Christian Labanan via Rear-Naked Choke.
This victory is another major step forward in his career and brings him closer to his goal of competing for the URCC Flyweight Championship Belt.
