Rotary Club of Manila Bay and SHORE in cooperation with the Local Government of Mabini Batangas, Mabini Tourism, ICM and Marine Education and Preservation led the successful Coastal Clean-Up and Community Pantry in Mabini, Batangas

MABINI, BATANGAS – May 9, 2026 — Demonstrating a strong commitment to environmental protection and community service, the Rotary Club of Manila Bay and SHORE successfully conducted a Coastal Clean-Up and Community Pantry at Anilao Port, Mabini, Batangas on May 9, 2026, in cooperation with the Local Government Unit of Mabini Batangas, Mabini Tourism Office, Integrated Coastal Management (ICM), and Marine Education & Preservation (MEP).

The meaningful initiative gathered approximately 250 volunteers and participants composed of Rotarians, environmental advocates, local residents, tourism stakeholders, divers, and youth volunteers united under the campaign theme, “Save Our Seas, Save Our Society.”

The coastal clean-up operation resulted in the collection of approximately 3 tons of trash and marine debris, helping restore and protect the coastal waters and shoreline of Anilao, one of the country’s premier marine tourism destinations.

Alongside the environmental activity, organizers also conducted a Community Pantry to support local residents and beneficiaries in the community. The pantry distributed:
1,000 kilos of rice
Canned goods
Instant spaghetti
Instant noodles
Biscuits
2 tons of fresh vegetables sourced from Benguet farmers

The organizers emphasized that the initiative was not only about protecting marine ecosystems, but also about strengthening community solidarity, food security, and sustainable environmental stewardship.
Representatives from the Rotary Club of Manila Bay and SHORE expressed gratitude to all volunteers, partner organizations, donors, and the LGU of Mabini for their invaluable support and cooperation in making the event successful.

The event highlighted the importance of collective action in preserving the environment while uplifting communities through humanitarian service and sustainable partnerships. Unite for Good.
