The Chicago Bulls have opened the 2025ā26 NBA season with a stunning 4-0 record, defying all preseason expectations. Theyāve done it without last yearās leading scorer, Coby White, and key big man Zach Collins, both sidelined to start the year.
Yet instead of struggling, the Bulls have found a new, winning identity that is built on pace, teamwork, and elite defense. Coach Billy Donovanās revamped system now emphasizes quick tempo, ball movement, and equal opportunity scoring.
That selfless approach has transformed the Bulls into one of the best passing teams in the league. They currently rank 2nd in the NBA in assists per game, averaging 30 dimes per night.
Nikola VuÄeviÄ continues to be the teamās steady anchor inside, averaging 18.3 points and 13.3 rebounds per game. Josh Giddey has been the teamās all-around engine, putting up 19.5 points, 8.5 rebounds, and 7.8 assists per game.
Tre Jones, last yearās acquisition, has emerged as a true floor general, averaging 12.5 points, 7.5 assists. His playmaking has kept the Bullsā offense fluid and their defense relentless.
The Bullsā depth is another reason for their hot start: Ayo Dosunmu has stepped up in Coby Whiteās absence. Matas Buzelis, the sophomore forward, contributes with energy and athleticism. Kevin Huerter has seamlessly filled the role of perimeter threat.
While their offense has been beautiful to watch, itās their defense that truly sets them apart. The Bulls rank 6th in the league in opponentsā points per game, holding teams to just 110.7 points on average. Tre Jonesā ball pressure and steals (league- leading 3.0 steals per game) have set the tone, while VuÄeviÄ controls the paint and cleans the glass.
The Bullsā undefeated start isnāt just about early momentum. Itās a clear sign of a culture shift. Missing two key players, Chicago has leaned on trust, movement, and defense to become one of the NBAās most balanced and efficient squads.
Opponents now face a team that can score in transition, share the ball at an elite rate, and lock down defensively. All without a single superstar dominating possessions.
A 4-0 start doesnāt guarantee playoff success, but the formula is promising: top-five assists, top-five defense, and total team buy-in. If the Bulls can sustain this level of effort and chemistry once White and Collins return, they could become one of the most surprising and dangerous teams in the Eastern Conference this season.
