Pride and honor for Bicol College Senior High School as athletes Lord Cedric T. Loterte and Mark Jessie Mendoza represented Team Albay in the Batang Pinoy 2025 National Championships held in General Santos City.

Loterte, 16, from Binitayan, Daraga, Albay, earned a bronze medal in kickboxing after a remarkable display of discipline and determination. Mendoza, who also competed in kickboxing, showed resilience and skill in a close match that ended in a split decision.

Both athletes shared their thoughts and experiences from the national competition:

Cedric Loterte shares his thoughts:
“Before the fight, I felt both excited and nervous about how my performance would turn out. Many people were expecting me to win gold because I had trained hard for Batang Pinoy. My parents made many sacrifices and personally supported my preparation, with help from Bicol College and the LGU. That made me even more determined to make their support worth it. When I stepped onto the mat, I prayed and focused on one goal—to give my best and show my talent.”

Mark Jessie Mendoza recounts his experience:
“Our flight was on October 24 to Davao, then we traveled to General Santos. The opening parade was on October 25 at the sports complex, weigh-in on October 27, and fight day on October 28. It took strict and consistent training to reach this level and represent Team Albay. I gave everything I had during the match, landing solid points with full confidence to win, but my opponent was tough, leading to a split decision from the judges.

Still, being part of Batang Pinoy is already a great achievement for me. After the fight, I remained thankful because I finished safely without any injury. I thank God for guiding me and everyone who supported and believed in me—my family, coaches, teammates, schoolmates, school, and friends. I’ll continue to work harder in the next competitions to reach my ultimate goal of winning the gold medal. Thank you, everyone.”

This success reflects the dedication of Bicol College athletes and the strong support of Bicol College, the Local Government Unit, and their coaches Edgar O. Oraa and Jho N. Nuylan Jr.

Congratulations, Lord Cedric Loterte and Mark Jessie Mendoza! You bring pride to Bicol College and to the province of Albay!
