To our fellow students and valued members of the school community,
As officers of the Sports Club, we understand the frustration, disappointment, and confusion surrounding the cancellation of the much-anticipated 2025 Intramurals/Sports Fest. Rumors have circulated, assumptions have been made, and questions remain unanswered. It is for this reason that we wish to clarify the truth and shed light on the challenges we faced behind the scenes before the school year 2025โ2026 begins.
Originally, the Intramurals were scheduled to take place in November during the celebration of our schoolโs founding anniversary. However, due to unforeseen suspensions of classes and the shortening of school days, the activity was not able to continue as planned. With high hopes and determination, we rescheduled the event for January.
Upon proposing the revised plan to the new school head, we were met with rejection. This was due to unavoidable circumstances, including the conduct of the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) and the billeting of technical officials within our school premises during the Cordillera Administrative Region Athletic Association (CARAA) meet.
After the conclusion of CARAA, we once again proposed to hold the Intramurals. Sadly, our efforts were obstructed again, this time because of the continued administration of PISA assessments. Refusing to give up, we made a third attempt to get the activity approved after the conduct of PISA. Unfortunately, during a faculty meeting, the majority voted against pushing through with the event.
As student leaders, it is our duty to represent the voice of the student body. With your overwhelming support and the joint effort of our dedicated officers, we submitted another proposalโthis time pleading that the Intramurals be held even just for a day. Thankfully, our persistence paid off, and the proposal was conditionally approved.
One of the conditions was a petition that many of you signed, for which we are sincerely grateful. Another condition required increased student attendance during our flag ceremonies, and we appreciate your cooperation in helping us fulfill that requirement. For the final condition, we carefully tailored the proposal to ensure the smooth implementation of the event. At last, two weeks before the proposed date, the Intramurals were officially approved.
Excitement was high, preparations were underway, and we truly believed the activity would finally happen. Unfortunately, we faced another unexpected challengeโthe initial venue for the event became unavailable on the day it was scheduled. We made every effort to reschedule and even searched for alternative venues, but none could be secured in time.
We, the Sports Club officers and adviser, want you to know that we did everything within our power to bring this activity to life. We fought for your voices, we pushed through countless rejections, and we held onto hope until the very end. However, due to a series of unavoidable circumstances and last-minute complications, the 2025 Intramurals sadly remained an unfinished plan.
To all those who supported, signed, attended, and believedโwe thank you. Your spirit and solidarity kept us going. While this yearโs intramurals may not have come to life, your enthusiasm has laid the groundwork for better planning and stronger advocacy in the future.
With heartfelt gratitude,
The Sports Club Officers 2024-2025
