Leading with Faith: The Journey of a Los Obreros Team Captain
First and foremost, I give all glory and thanks to God for guiding me throughout this incredible journey. I also extend my deepest gratitude to Father Gybbyn G. Gumban for believing in me and giving me this opportunity—not once, but twice. By welcoming me into the Los Obreros Basketball Team, he opened the door for me to grow as both a player and a leader.
Serving as the captain of the Los Obreros Basketball Team has been one of the greatest honors of my life. The journey has not always been easy. There were challenges, setbacks, and moments that tested my determination. Yet through every obstacle, I remained steadfast in my faith, trusting that God would never abandon me.
Every practice, every sacrifice, and every game became an opportunity to grow stronger, work harder, and lead by example.
My first year at St. Joseph Los Obreros was filled with remarkable achievements. Together as a team, we captured championships in the CAPRISAA Meet, School Wars, and CYBL. We also earned the privilege of representing our school in the WVRAA and West PRISAA competitions. Those victories were not simply the result of talent—they were built on discipline, unity, perseverance, and an unwavering commitment to one another.
As our journey continued, we embraced new opportunities, faced every challenge with determination, and continued to grow stronger as a team. While we did not bring home the championship this season, every game, every practice, and every setback became an opportunity to learn and improve. Personally,
While these accomplishments are meaningful, they represent more than medals and trophies. They stand as proof that faith, hard work, sacrifice, and teamwork can transform aspirations into achievements. Even without winning the championship, we gained something equally valuable—experience, resilience, and the determination to come back stronger than ever.
Looking back, I am grateful for every lesson, every challenge, and every victory that has shaped me into the person and leader I am today. Looking ahead, I am determined to make the most of my final season as a senior high school basketball player. I will continue to give everything I have for my team, my school, and the people who have supported me throughout this journey.
The story is not finished. There are still goals to chase, challenges to overcome, and dreams to pursue. With faith in God, trust in the process, and belief in the people around me, I am ready to embrace whatever comes next.
