The scheduled Harvest Festival on September 30, 2025 has been officially CANCELLED after Typhoon Opong brought heavy rains and strong winds that caused rice crops in the techno demo area to fall. The situation was further compounded by the unpredictable weather conditions as the festival date approaches.

The festival will not push through as planned to prioritize the safety of technicians, participants, and the standing rice crops. The center has decided to harvest the remaining standing crops ahead of schedule to minimize losses and protect what can still be saved.

The welfare of the community and the preservation of agricultural resources remain our top priority.

The AAADFTC, in collaboration with SeedWorks Philippines and Visayan Agricultural Innovation Inc., will hold a Harvest Festival on September 30, 2025, featuring a rice techno demonstration showcasing the US 88 variety.

The activity aims to provide rice farmers and technicians with an opportunity to observe the performance of the US 88 variety in the field. In addition, our technicians and private partners will share their expertise and experiences to guide practitioners in adopting innovative approaches that can enhance productivity and sustainability in rice production.

The event forms part of continuing efforts to promote agricultural innovation and strengthen the capacity of local farmers through knowledge-sharing and technology adoption.

The AAADFTC hosted a guided educational tour for the Grade 12 students of Infant Jesus Academy on September 19, 2025, as part of their Real-Life Interactive Learning Experience.

During the visit, the students were welcomed by Supervisor Mr. Soviet Dela Cruz, who gave a brief orientation and encouraged them to consider future careers in agriculture and fisheries, including becoming agripreneurs.

Following this, they proceeded with their tour, guided by AAADFTC technicians, where they learned about various agricultural and aquaculture practices, technologies, and innovations.

On September 18, 2025, AAADFTC Supervisor Mr. Soviet Dela Cruz, together with the AAADFTC staff, held a meeting with the Provincial Director of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Aklan, Ms. Dyna Rose Gubatanga, along with her team members, Ms. Antonette Donato and Ms. Eunice Raiza Panagsagan, at the AAADFTC Multipurpose Hall in Nalook, Kalibo, Aklan.

The meeting provided an opportunity to introduce and showcase the technologies presented by AAADFTC, along with its future plans. It also served as a platform for meaningful discussions on potential activities and collaborative initiatives with DOST Aklan, including avenues for accessing their support and services.

We sincerely appreciate this productive exchange and look forward to future partnerships with DOST Aklan.

The AAADFTC facilitated a learning visit for the employees of the Provincial Health Office of Aklan on September 17, 2025.

Participants were welcomed and oriented by Supervisor Mr. Soviet Dela Cruz, followed by a guided tour led by AAADFTC technicians through the facility’s agriculture- and fisheries-based areas.

After the tour, the group engaged in a discussion on the preparation and application of organic concoctions and observed a live demonstration on how to create Fermented Plant Juice.

The AAADFTC extends its warm welcome to the representatives from the various offices of LGU Libertad, Antique during their preliminary visit to the facility on September 16, 2025. This initial engagement forms part of their preparations for the upcoming visit on September 26, in connection with their LGU's month-long celebration of the 125th Philippine Civil Service Anniversary.

During the visit, the representatives were introduced to the AAADFTC’s programs and operations through Supervisor Mr. Soviet Dela Cruz. They also had the opportunity to observe key components of the facility, including the greenhouses, communal garden, and freshwater aquaculture systems.

The AAADFTC welcomed participants of the annual Regional Exposure Trip organized by the Municipal Agriculture Office of the LGU of Ivisan, Capiz for a guided tour of its facilities on September 12, 2025.

The visit began with a short orientation on the AAADFTC’s services and operational areas. Participants were then grouped and paired with assigned technicians who led them through various sections of the center.

During the tour, they explored greenhouse setups using both soilless and soil-based methods, communal gardens, and rainshelter systems. They also learned about the freshwater fish species raised in the aquaculture facility and observed the operations of the grains processing center. Throughout the activity, participants were encouraged to ask questions, which were addressed by the technicians.

The AAADFTC facilitated a benchmarking activity for two batches of participants from the Farmer Field School on Farm Business School program on September 12, 2025. These groups were organized by the Municipal Agriculture Offices of the Local Government Units of Lezo and Numancia, Aklan. The program was funded by the Agricultural Training Institute – Regional Training Center VI.

Participants were welcomed with an orientation on AAADFTC, its facilities, and the goods and services it provides. This was followed by a guided tour led by AAADFTC technicians, during which they learned about agricultural and fisheries production systems, including soil-based and soil-less farming, as well as freshwater aquaculture.

Throughout the tour, participants observed facility operations and had the opportunity to raise questions, which were addressed by our experienced technicians.

The AAADFTC hosted a guided tour for Grade 3 students of Infant Jesus Academy, accompanied by their teachers, on September 12, 2025.

During the visit, the group was warmly welcomed by the AAADFTC Supervisor, Mr. Soviet Dela Cruz, who encouraged the students to learn about the various crops cultivated in the area and the fish species raised within the facility. The students actively participated in the tour, enthusiastically identifying different plants and aquatic animals as they explored the surroundings.
