The JBLFMU-Arevalo Vanguards (VNG) Football Team showcased determination, teamwork, and competitive spirit as they competed in the National Heroes Day Football Festival held yesterday at Campo Alcantara Football Stadium, Pavia, Iloilo.

The Vanguards concluded their campaign in 5th place, posting a 1-win, 2-draw, and 2-loss record across five matches.

Under the guidance of Head Coach Junjun Durana, the VNG Football Team demonstrated discipline, resilience, and camaraderie throughout the competition. Coach Durana's leadership continues to guide the squad as it develops its tactical approach, team chemistry, and competitive character.

Adding valuable experience to the Vanguards' campaign was Roniel Rodinas, a JBLFMU-A alumnus, who joined the team for the festival. His participation brought additional experience and strengthened the team's connection between the institution's alumni and current athletes.

Despite facing strong competition, the Vanguards remained committed until the final whistle, using every match as an opportunity to learn, improve, and grow as a team.

The National Heroes Day Football Festival served as another important chapter in the continuing development of VNG Football, as the squad proudly carried the name of JBLFMU-Arevalo onto the pitch.

With lessons gained, experience earned, and team chemistry strengthened, the Vanguards look ahead to greater challenges and future competitions.

VNG FOOTBALL — ONE TEAM. ONE PURPOSE. ONE VANGUARD SPIRIT.

The VNG Football Team is gaining momentum heading into the National Heroes Day Tournament on August 15–16, 2026, following a productive series of four tune-up matches.

The Vanguards posted a 3-0-1 record, securing three victories and one draw as the squad fine-tuned its tactics and team chemistry ahead of the tournament.

The team opened its tune-up campaign with a 3–2 victory, followed by a convincing 2–0 win in the second match. VNG then battled to a 1–1 draw in the third game before closing the series with a narrow 1–0 victory.

The four-match stretch provided the Vanguards with valuable preparation, allowing the squad to assess its tactical ex*****on, defensive organization, attacking movement, and overall team cohesion before entering tournament competition.

Under the leadership of team head James Pabiona and head coach Mr. Junjun Durana, VNG Football will now shift its focus to the National Heroes Day Tournament, where the team will look to translate its strong tune-up form into competitive results.

With the tournament fast approaching, the Vanguards have one objective ahead:

For nearly a decade, the field stood as a quiet reminder of a chapter left unfinished. The cheers faded, the matches became memories, and the students patiently waited for the sport to find its way home.

The last football team to represent the institution took the field in 2017, guided by Coach Junjun Durana. Their campaign marked the end of an era one that inspired many but left a void that remained unfilled for years.

Today, that story takes a new turn.

Driven by its commitment to develop student athletes and revive sporting excellence, the Vanguards Society proudly introduces the Vanguards Football Club, signaling the long awaited return of football to the institution.

In a fitting continuation of its history, the club will once again be led by Coach Junjun Durana and Mdpn. James Pabiona , whose return bridges the legacy of the past with the promise of the future. With thier guidance, a new generation of players now steps onto the pitch not simply to play the game, but to carry forward the tradition of those who came before them.

Every pass, every tackle, and every goal from this point forward will become part of a new chapter one built on determination, discipline, and the courage to begin again.

After years of waiting, football has finally found its way home.

And this time, the story continues with the VNG Football Club.
