𝐍𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐚 𝐃𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐪𝐮𝐞 𝐓𝐚𝐠𝐥𝐞: 𝐀𝐢𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐆𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬

With unwavering focus and a steady hand, 16-yearold Naina Dominique D. Tagle of Silliman University continues to carve her name into the world of archery — one bullseye at a time.

Her journey began humbly in Grade 3, inspired by her older sister, Nicole D. Tagle, an accomplished archer whose passion for the sport sparked Naina’s own. Naina took to the bow and arrow like she was born for it, quickly falling in love with the discipline, precision, and grace that archery demands. "You won't really get far in something you don't love," she shares, a mantra that fuels her commitment both on and off the field.

From local competitions to national tournaments, Naina’s rise has been nothing short of impressive. She has consistently competed in Batang Pinoy and World Archery Philippines (WAP) tournaments, showcasing her growth and resilience year after year. She clinched gold in the October leg of WAP, proving her dominance on the range. Building on that momentum, she returned earlier this year to secure silver in the 60-meter category, a testament to her relentless pursuit of excellence. Her trophy cabinet also boasts back-to-back Overall Champion titles in CViRAA and the Palarong Pambansa, solidifying her reputation as one of the region’s fiercest young archers.

Behind her success stands a powerhouse of experience and dedication — her trainers Rowel Merto and Jennifer Chan, both former members of the Philippine National Archery Team, who have competed and won on the international stage. Their guidance has been crucial in sharpening Naina’s technique and mindset, preparing her for even greater heights. Supporting her further are Coaches Marc Jedd Kho and Darlene E. Banglos, alongside chaperone Melody Batalan, ensuring Naina’s training and well-being remain top priorities.

As the Central Visayas Regional Athletic Association (CViRAA) meet is in full swing, Naina’s sights are set on defending her title and aiming for gold once again. Armed with her unwavering determination, the support of her family, and the expertise of her coaches, she steps onto the range not just as a competitor — but as a champion in the making.

𝗪𝗼𝗺𝗮𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗱𝗮𝘆: 𝑴𝒂’𝒂𝒎 𝑹𝑫: 𝑨 𝑻𝒓𝒂𝒊𝒍𝒃𝒍𝒂𝒛𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑬𝒎𝒑𝒐𝒘𝒆𝒓𝒆𝒅 𝑾𝒐𝒎𝒂𝒏

In celebration of Women’s Empowerment Month, Mrs. Archites Espina Daksla or “RD” to her peers and friends, stands as a shining example of an empowered woman who has dedicated her life to service, leadership, and excellence. For 12 years, she has served as the Assistant Chairperson of the Food Committee for Dumaguete City Athletic Delegation in the CVIRAA Meet, ensuring that young athletes receive the nourishment they need.

As Principal III of South City Elementary School, she has seamlessly balanced her leadership in education with her vital role in sports events. Despite the challenges of catering to hundreds of delegates, she remained steadfast, learning from each experience. “Whatever our duties are, we must fulfill everything and not rely on others,” she shares, a philosophy that has guided her throughout her service.

This year marks a significant moment in Ma’am RD’s journey, as it will be her last year serving in the delegation. With her impending retirement in September, she remains just as enthusiastic and committed to fulfilling her responsibilities as a public servant. Her passion for her work is evident, as she continues to lead with energy, precision, and a deep sense of responsibility.

As she nears retirement, Ma’am RD’s legacy of humility and commitment continues to inspire women to step up and take on leadership roles. She believes in empowering others by helping them recognize the importance of their work and fostering a strong sense of responsibility. Through her actions, she has shown that true leadership is not about standing in the spotlight but about working tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure success for all.

Her final year in service is not just a farewell to a role but a celebration of a career built on dedication, selflessness, and excellence. 𝐃𝐮𝐦𝐚𝐠𝐮𝐞𝐭𝐞 𝐄𝐝𝐠𝐞𝐬 𝐎𝐮𝐭 𝐍𝐚𝐠𝐚 𝐂𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐢𝐧 𝐓𝐡𝐫𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐒𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐤 𝐓𝐚𝐤𝐫𝐚𝐰 𝐃𝐮𝐞𝐥

Dumaguete City’s Sepak Takraw Team emerged victorious in a hard-fought battle against Naga City, clinching a 2-1 overall win after three intense regu matches at the Barangay Omod Gym on Wednesday.

The first regu saw Adrian James Embelino leading the charge, but despite his efforts, Dumaguete struggled with their rhythm, falling behind with a 0-2 loss (6-15, 7-15).

Determined to bounce back, the second regu — powered by Dan Gabriel Martinez, John Tyrone Nacario, and Joshua Jubay — turned the tide. Their combined effort, capped off by a powerful spike from Nacario, secured a thrilling 2-1victory (15- 9, 7-15 15-7), keeping Dumaguete’s hopes alive.

The decisive third regu showcased James Miguel Binondo and Shaquille Dagodog in top form. Their seamless teamwork, highlighted by Binondo’s impressive service aces and spikes, led to a commanding 2-0 win (15-9, 15- 8), sealing the overall victory for Dumaguete City.
