Menzi Beach, Davao Oriental β The Municipality of Manay emerged as the champion of the 1st GNLD Araw ng Davao Oriental Inter-LGU Men's Beach Volleyball Tournament, held on June 20, 2026, at Menzi Beach as part of the celebration of the 59th Araw ng Davao Oriental.
Manay showcased outstanding teamwork, consistency, and dominance throughout the tournament, culminating in a convincing straight-set victory over the City of Mati LGU in the championship match. Displaying relentless momentum from start to finish, Manay secured the title with scores of 21-17 and 21-13.
From the opening set, the Municipality of Manay established control of the match through solid defense and efficient offensive ex*****on. Their exceptional reception allowed them to neutralize the attacks of the City of Mati LGU and quickly transition into effective scoring opportunities. Whether from service receive, defensive plays, or counterattacks, Team Manay consistently found answers to every challenge presented by their opponents.
The City of Mati LGU finished as 1st Runner-Up and received β±10,000, while the Municipality of Tarragona secured the 2nd Runner-Up position and earned β±5,000. The Municipality of Manay took home the championship trophy along with the top cash prize of β±15,000.

A key factor in Manay's championship run was the stellar performance of Most Valuable Player (MVP) Jomel M. Magkidong, whose leadership and attacking prowess played a crucial role in securing the victory.

Representing the Governor during the awarding ceremony was Provincial Sports Director Peter Paul Vincent Chiu, who congratulated all participating teams and emphasized the Provincial Government's commitment to nurturing athletic excellence and providing opportunities for local athletes to showcase their talents.
The successful staging of the beach volleyball tournament not only showcased the talents of athletes from across Davao Oriental but also strengthened camaraderie among participating local government units, making it one of the highlights of this year's Araw ng Davao Oriental celebration.
