One of the simple requests we had during Rene’s wake was lugaw for the family, visitors, and volunteers. Without hesitation, the entire request was granted by the City Government of Davao.

Thank you so much, Mayor Baste Duterte, for your kindness and support during this difficult time. Your help, no matter how simple it may seem, brought comfort to everyone who came to pay their respects to Rene.

We are truly grateful for the love and assistance extended to our family. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you to the City Government of Davao and Mayor Baste Duterte for being with us during our darkest days.

To the entire Ateneo de Davao University community, we are forever grateful.

To all the volunteers from Grade School, Junior High School, Senior High School, and College, thank you so much for generously giving your time, effort, and love for Rene. Your presence, service, and support have brought comfort and strength to our family during this difficult time.

This is just one example of the incredible teamwork shown by the Ateneo community through the volunteer schedule for each division:

* Junior High School – Afternoon Shift
* Samahan College – Evening Shift
* Senior High School – Whole Day

Seeing every division come together as one family for Rene is something we will never forget.

Thank you so much Coach Eric Altamirano and Tita Marissa Altamirano for this framed NBTC All-Star jersey memorabilia for Bobet. I will personally bring and deliver this to Talacogon for Bobet.

NBTC is one of the reasons why provincial athletes like Bobet were given the opportunity to showcase their talents on the biggest stage and play in iconic venues such as the SM Mall of Asia Arena.

Because of NBTC, countless young players from the provinces were given a platform to dream bigger, compete against the best, and be seen by schools, coaches, and the basketball community across the country. Bobet was one of those athletes whose life was positively impacted by that opportunity.

We will forever be grateful to NBTC for believing in provincial talent and for helping create unforgettable memories that Bobet and our family will cherish forever. Thank you for being part of his journey.

This was the moment Rene was given an opportunity to attend the Gilas National Team tryouts. He may not have made the final roster, but that never discouraged him. Instead, he was happy, motivated, and even more determined to improve.

I still remember how excited he was after the tryouts. Rather than focusing on disappointment, he focused on growth. He believed that with hard work, dedication, and patience, he would one day prove that he belonged among the best.

That’s why Rene was so emotional after this game at the Palarong Pambansa. He was matched up against Braga, the big man from NCR, who was also part of the Gilas U18 National Team tryouts.

For many, it was just another game. But for Rene, it was personal. It was an opportunity to compete against someone who had been on the same national team journey he once dreamed of being part of.

That was who Rene was—a competitor, a dreamer, and a worker. Every setback became fuel for him to get better.

We are proud of you, brother. Your journey continues to inspire us every day. 💙
