Working out in a tropical paradise? Yes, please! Exercising while on holiday will help you feel energized and embrace the natural beauty around you.

That said, the heat and humidity can make workouts more intense, so it’s important to take a few precautions. Stay hydrated before, during, and after your session, and listen to your body when it tells you to slow down.

Although it can feel more challenging, training in a warm climate helps improve endurance, cardiovascular fitness, and even mental resilience. Plus, there’s nothing more rewarding than cooling off with a dip in the pool or a refreshing smoothie at Liquid Dumaguete after a great workout.

So, if you're visiting and want to stay active while enjoying your holiday, join us for a workout! Message Liquid Dumaguete for more info.

5 things to keep in mind when starting your fitness journey:

1️⃣ There’s no quick fix - results come with patience and effort
2️⃣ Comparing yourself to others won’t help - focus on your own progress
3️⃣ Recovery is just as important as training
4️⃣ Aim for progress, not perfection
5️⃣ Long-term consistency beats short-term intensity

And don't forget, everyone was a beginner at some point! 😉

Having the motivation to work out is great, but there is such a thing as pushing too hard. So how do you know when it's time to take a break? Here are four signs that you may be overtraining:

1️⃣ Unusual muscle soreness - Feeling sore after a workout is normal, but if it lasts for days or happens after every session, your body might not be getting enough time to recover. Constant soreness can be a red flag that you're overworking your muscles.

2️⃣ Performance declines - Struggling to lift weights that were once easy? Running slower than usual? If your strength, endurance, or overall performance is slipping, overtraining could be the culprit.

3️⃣ Lack of energy - If your usual workouts leave you feeling drained instead of energized, or if you’re constantly fatigued even outside the gym, it’s a sign that you may be pushing past your limits.

4️⃣ Poor sleep - Overtraining can mess with your sleep cycle, making it harder to fall asleep or stay asleep. If you're restless at night despite feeling exhausted, your body could be in overdrive.

Listening to your body is just as important as pushing yourself in the gym. Rest and recovery are key to long-term progress, so if you're experiencing these signs, consider taking a step back.

Take your box step ups to the next level - literally!

A regular box step-up is great for building leg strength, stability, and coordination. But when you increase the height of the box, you turn it into a whole new challenge. High box step-ups require more hip mobility, core engagement, and single-leg strength, making them an excellent exercise for building power and control.

Because the step is higher, your glutes and hamstrings have to work even harder to lift your body up. This means greater lower-body activation and better strength gains over time. To perform them correctly, focus on driving through the heel of your working leg and avoid pushing off too much with the other foot.

If you're ready to level up, try incorporating high box step-ups into your workout and feel the difference. Let us know if you give them a shot!

If it's been a while since your last workout, it can be hard to get back into a routine. Here are 5 tips to give you a little push:

1️⃣ Plan ahead: schedule your workouts for the entire week in your calendar. This can make them easier to stick to.

2️⃣ Ease back in: even if you're feeling extra motivated, don't rush things. Listen to your body and allow time to rest.

3️⃣ Set a goal: from building strength to losing weight, setting goals can help you see the bigger picture and commit to your routine.

4️⃣ Try something new: get out of your comfort zone, and go for that new workout you've been wanting to try!

5️⃣ Find a buddy: sweating is better together. Invite a friend and hold each other accountable.

Finding the motivation to exercise on your own can be a challenge, especially on those days when you're feeling tired or just not in the mood. That's why finding a workout buddy can be a total game-changer when it comes to staying motivated.

A workout buddy can help keep you accountable, providing the extra push you need to stick to your routine. Having someone to share the experience with can make exercise feel less like a chore and more like a social activity. You can challenge each other, try new workouts together, and celebrate your progress along the way. 🥳

If you're still looking for a workout buddy, our group classes might be the perfect solution for you. We currently have classes on Tuesdays (am & pm), Thursdays (am & pm), and Saturdays (am). Please send us a message for more info!

6 Reasons why lunges should be part of your workout routine:

1️⃣ Lunges are a functional exercise (exercises that directly affect your everyday movements).

2️⃣ Lunges are a truly comprehensive lower-body exercise that hit your glutes, hamstrings, quads, and calves. They also target your abs and lower back. The balance and stability that lunges require activate those muscles.

3️⃣ Lunges will force your hip flexors to stretch. This stretching will increase their movement and flexibility. This is especially important if you spend a lot of time sitting!

4️⃣ Lunges are unilateral, which improves your balance and stability.

5️⃣ Lunges provide rest and recovery for your spine (also called deloading). A lot of exercises compress your spine (load weight onto it). Lunges do the opposite, they release the compression.

6️⃣ Lunges require no equipment or no special training. If you have room to walk a couple of steps, you have room to do a few lunges.

What are you waiting for? Let's do some lunges!

Want to do a single-arm bent-over row but don’t have heavy dumbbells? No problem - you can use a barbell instead!

Simply load weights on one side of the barbell, grip it with one hand, and pull the weight toward your chest, keeping your elbow close to your body. Alternatively, you can stick with the traditional barbell row by adding weights to both sides, using a two-handed grip, and rowing the bar towards your chest.

Which variation do you prefer?
