Girls’ 12U number one seed Kyla Caguioa had to overcome a tactical battle in her quaterfinal match to secure the victory against seventh seed Margaret Abacan, 6-0 4-6 10-4.
"Noong second set, naka-adjust na siya. And she was giving it to my backhand," Caguioa recalled. "So, noong third set, naka-adjust na po ako. I focused on her backhand. To be honest, it was tactical."
The victory comes despite a grueling schedule for Caguioa, who is competing immediately after returning from the ITF Asia 12U event in Thailand. But she remains focused, inspired by her dream of eventually becoming pro. "I'm tired na po. Because from going to Thailand and then the next three days, meron na naman tournament po dito... But I really want to pursue this po," she said, smiling.
