Today marks a major milestone in the history of rebreather diving. After months of extensive work with the DEKRA team, the long-awaited CE approval of SIDEWINDER 2 has officially become a reality.

Certification was only the final step of a long and exceptionally complex project, encompassing not only the design phase but also the implementation of a set of sophisticated technologies, each of which alone would have been a demanding task. We are even more pleased that SIDEWINDER 2 required no design changes to meet the requirements. Although the evaluation process took much longer than initially expected, every test was completed smoothly on the first attempt.

SIDEWINDER 2 is not just another rebreather on the market. With its unique modularity, outstanding cold-water capabilities, exceptional scrubber endurance time, and ruggedness, combined with ease of diving and the signature KISS simplicity, SIDEWINDER 2 will become for CCR diving what XDEEP STEALTH 2.0 is for sidemount: a system that sets a completely new standard and becomes a reference point for all other units.

There's been lots of activity the last few weeks, and some big achievements.

Congratulations to on achieving his Advanced Nitrox and Deco Procedures Instructor ratings. With 10 days of solid training under his belt Rod is heading back to Perth, Australia, ready to spread the good word to the local dive community there. Shallow skills sessions, simulated deco scenario dives and real deco dives were all backed up with hours in the classroom working on presenting knowledge, and throughly debriefing all elements of training when working with students. If your in Perth, look Rod up.

Also a massive welcome to the world of tech diving to our resident instructor As with all our recreational instructors, Elena is now more knowledgeable and skilled and able to use this upgrade when working with students at all levels. You will no doubt catch Elena squeezing in tech dives on her days off as she continues the quest for experience and knowledge.

It gives me great pleasure to welcome Gino Pelayo as the first, Malapascua grown, TDI - Technical Diving International - Philippines Advanced Nitrox and Decompression Procedures Instructor.

Gino has steadily grown from divemaster, to instructor, tech diver, tech guide, and now he is passing on his knowledge as a very knowledgeable and extremely competent tech instructor.

As a member of the Evolution family for well over a decade, Gino has always shined and been a fantastic example of the high level of diving skill we encourage.

Congratulations Gino, well earned!

Also, big congrats to and Oliver Ducat on successfully surviving Ginos first class and becoming Advanced Nitrox and Deco Procedures divers.

5 full days of skills and drills, a few near misses and some anger at TDIs less than perfect grammar 😜. Well deserved fun dives with the sharks tomorrow.

Another KISS Rebreathers Sidewinder diver is born! Our number is growing in the Philippines ❤️

Congratulations to the ever inquisitive, excited and humorous Jonathan Venn. We had discussions about Nasa, failed alarm clocks, incomplete checklists, and fitness gym sessions before class, and of course lots of skills and drills.

Jon will be excitedly diving his sidewinder at his resort so get in touch if you need ccr support and a guide in the Batangas area.

Finishing up a great year with another dive to the deep wreck of the Pioneer Cebu at 110m, with dive buddy Nick Greenop

As we dive the wreck more we start to see more details and discover new things.

This dive was also the longest bottom time to date, 27mins. Gradually extending this with the capacity of our bailout gases is the on-going plan for next year. Bring on 2025!

Filmed with 10 and video lights from which do a great job of bringing the darkness back into view!

I'll be making my way to Australia next year, and I'm excited to teach some classes on the awesome sidewinder. There is 1 spot left for these dates near Melbourne.

I'm open to suggestions if you want to look at other dates after March 16th. The weekend of March 15/16 is booked for where I will also be presenting on Thresher shark conservation and CCRs 😁

Congratulations to Tonito Vargas on becoming one of the few Filipino KISS Rebreathers Sidewinder divers.

7 long days of hard study and intensive diving is not easy. There's a lot of new and complicated information to take onboard, and Tonito showed intelligence, grace and control throughout.
