We're happy to share that Gi is now back at home and in the care of her daughters, son, husband and mother. She's in good spirits, but currently in a wheelchair. Unfortunately, she's suffered permanent loss of sight in her damaged eye, and still faces further procedures and therapy to regain mobility in her hip and shoulder.

Gi's family have expressed sincere gratitude and thanks to everyone who's generously contributed to help Gi with her recovery so far.

Special thanks also to Wendy, Peter and Mike for all their efforts organising the fund raising.

***CALLING ON THE CUYO KITE COMMUNITY***

One of our local kitesurf friends, Girlie (Gi), suffered a horrible crash on Capusan beach. The family will need financial support to cover the medical bills (think millions in PHP).

She was launched 3-4m into the air by a rare and unexpected gust of wind, and smacked down on the wet sand with high impact. Resulting in a dislocated hip, broken shoulder, fractured eye socket and potentially permanent loss of sight in one eye. The list of medical procedures that are needed is long.

Gi was always on Capusan to help others, always smiling and bringing the good vibes. She is a mother of 4 and a dear friend to local kite legend Jing.

The Cuyo Kite Community is calling on all our kitesurf friends all over the world to help raise money.

Today we say goodbye to our friend, our founder, our Champ, Bill Silvers. Inspirational, entirely irreplaceable, and a little less invincible than we thought, we'll miss and remember him forever. Thank you for all the good times Billy!!

We believe spending 20+ hours on a slow moving and slightly-rusty ferry is an essential part of the authentic 'Cuyo Experience', and the only way to truly earn your Cuyo travel stripes!

Which is lucky because:...

"Air Juan have 'temporarily suspended' their service to/from Cuyo, and there is currently no further information available about when or if flights to Cuyo will resume. Please check their website for any updates, or email [email protected] with direct enquiries.

Until further information is available, anyone planning a trip to Cuyo should be prepared to take a ferry and allow ample extra travel time to/from Cuyo."

We will update you all if we get any further info, but until then, happy boating everybody! 😊👍🛳

Billy reached international acclaim a number of years ago for his now infamous signature move: "Me Old Under-Over-Anchor Rope Trick". He remains the only kiteboarder in history to have ever successfully performed this trick unharmed.
