Key Facts for a One-Day Hike

Duration: Takes about 5 to 7 hours to ascend and 3 to 5 hours to descend via the popular Yoshida Trail.

Distance & Elevation: Roughly 15 km round trip with about 1,600 meters of elevation gain.

Climbing Season: Officially early July to early September when facilities and huts are open.

Rules & Fees: A 4,000 yen access fee applies, and trails are restricted between 2:00 PM and 3:00 AM unless you have a mountain hut booking.

Tips for Success

Start Early: Begin your ascent in the morning during allowed hours to avoid rushing and finishing in the dark.

Pace Yourself: Walk steadily and take short breaks at stations to adjust to the thin air above 3,000 meters.

Pack Essentials: Bring cash for toilets (300–500 yen), layered warm clothing for freezing summit temperatures, sturdy boots, and at least 2 liters of water.

From “we got this” to “what were we thinking?” 😂⛰️

Post-climb dinner is where we replay the adventure 😎
what went wrong, what we learned,
what we’ll do differently next time, and all the ridiculous moments in between.

Another climb, another story, another reason to do it all over again. 🥾🔥

Mount Fuji features a non-technical Trail Class 1 to Class 2 rating (walking on well-defined dirt paths and loose volcanic rock/gravel), categorized locally as a moderate physical climb (Difficulty 5/9) due to high altitude and steep volcanic slopes.
Yoshida Trail: Class 1-2; broad dirt switchbacks turning into loose volcanic rock and gritty gravel near the upper stations.
