PRO7 IMPLEMENTS FIREARM PERMIT SUSPENSION FOR ASEAN SUMMIT SECURITY
In line with the directive of the Chief, Philippine National Police (CPNP) to ensure maximum security coverage for the 48th ASEAN Leaders’ Summit and related meetings, the Police Regional Office 7 (PRO7) announces the temporary suspension of Permits to Carry Fi****ms Outside of Residence (PTCFOR) and the implementation of a total gun ban in identified areas.
The suspension and gun ban will take effect from 12:01 AM of May 4, 2026 until 11:59 PM of May 11, 2026, covering Lapu-Lapu City, Mandaue City, Cebu City, and the entire Province of Cebu.
The suspension includes permits to transport fi****ms for gun club members; permits for gun manufacturers, dealers, and repair services; permits to carry fi****ms outside of residence; permits to transport and purchase explosives and explosive ingredients; as well as the temporary closure of firing and shooting ranges, and the suspension of licenses to manufacture and deal in firecrackers and pyrotechnic devices.
During this period, only members of the Philippine National Police (PNP), Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), and other Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs) who are performing official duties and wearing prescribed uniforms shall be authorized to carry fi****ms.
PRO7 Acting Regional Director, PBGen Arnold E. Abad, emphasized that this measure is part of intensified security operations under Enhanced Managing Police Operations, in close coordination with the AFP, other LEAs, and local government units, anchored on the CPNP’s mantra of “Serbisyong Mabilis, Tapat, at Nararamdaman.”
“This proactive security measure reflects our commitment to delivering police service that is swift, honest, and truly felt by the public. We ask for the understanding and full cooperation of our communities as we work together to ensure the safe, secure, and orderly conduct of the ASEAN Summit,” PBGen Abad said.
PRO7 further urges the public to remain vigilant and immediately report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station, reinforcing the shared responsibility of safeguarding Central Visayas during this significant international event.
