SPORTS: Cebu’s Omega Tri Team shines in Bohol 5150 Triathlon

The Cebu-based Omega Tri Team of coach Franz Abaño Baguio caught part of the spotlight with several podium finishes in the Sun Life Bohol 5150 Triathlon held over the weekend at The Bellevue Resort in Panglao Island.

Jonathan Pagaura spearheaded Omega Tri’s remarkable performance after finishing second overall in the male division of the centerpiece event that covers an Olympic distance of 1.5km swim, 40km bike, and 10km run.

Pagaura completed the grueling race with the second best time of two hours, eight minutes and three seconds, just 24 ticks behind Satar Salem of Tri SND Barracuda who clocked in 2:07:39 to emerge as overall champion.

Pagaura’s teammate Jorry Ycong, who came out first in the male 30-34 age group, placed fourth overall with a time of 2:14:04, while Justice Sousa bagged the top honors in the male 20-24 with a time of 2:14:53.

In the women’s category, Cianyl Jam Gonzalez wound up first in the 25-29 age bracket and fourth overall with a 2:39:36 clocking.

Picing up Omega Tri’s successful campaign was a Top 2 finish in the Team Challenge with an aggregate time of 11:53:37. — EBV

Justice Sousa is one of my student athletes and now is a licensed mechanical engineer. His principles and self-confidence help him to be in top of His Age group! We guide him to achieved his full potential in that race! Well done Justice. We are proud of you.

Its a wrap! Super proud of my athletes today. Getting out of comfort zone isn’t easy. Well done everyone!

Vamos!! Congrats to these two for bravely racing San Carlos Off Road Triathlon. Jonathan Pagaura finished 2nd overall and Hannah Bun finished 3rd overall. Well done guys.
