OVER 7,500 PNP PERSONNEL SET FOR PROMOTION IN 2026 FIRST CYCLE
The Philippine National Police (PNP) welcomed the approval of 7,516 promotion slots for uniformed personnel for the first cycle of the 2026 Regular Promotion Program, as authorized by the National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM), describing it as a significant step toward strengthening the organization’s operational capability and morale.
Of the total approved quota, 1,269 are allotted for Police Corporal (PCpl), 1,007 for Police Staff Sergeant (PSSg), 580 for Police Master Sergeant (PMSg), 651 for Police Senior Master Sergeant (PSMS), 1,506 for Police Chief Master Sergeant (PCMS), and 194 for Police Executive Master Sergeant (PEMS). For the Police Commissioned Officer ranks, 607 positions are allocated for Police Lieutenant (PLT), 320 for Police Captain (PCPT), 1,119 for Police Major (PMAJ), and 263 for Police Lieutenant Colonel (PLTCOL).
The development also reinforces the PNP’s continuing efforts to professionalize the organization through a merit-based system anchored on performance, experience, and fitness for duty.
PNP Chief, Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., emphasized that promotions in the police service go beyond rank advancement and should translate into greater accountability and commitment to public service.
“Ang promosyon ay hindi lang dagdag ranggo—ito ay dagdag na pananagutan sa taumbayan. As our personnel move up the ladder, we expect them to lead by example, act with integrity, and serve with a deeper sense of purpose,” PGEN Nartatez said.
He added that the latest development is aligned with the PNP Focused Agenda, particularly under Morale and Welfare, ensuring that leadership positions are filled by capable and deserving personnel who can effectively respond to the demands of modern policing.
“Mas pinalalakas nito ang ating kakayahan sa operasyon. Kapag ang mga lider natin ay handa, may integridad, at may malasakit, mas nagiging maayos ang serbisyo natin sa komunidad,” he noted.
PGEN Nartatez also expressed gratitude to the NAPOLCOM for its continued support in upholding a fair and transparent promotion system within the organization, stressing that such initiatives contribute to building a more motivated and disciplined police force.
The top cop also highlighted that the initiative is in line with the guidance of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. in strengthening professionalism and accountability across all levels of government service.
“As we move forward, we remind our personnel that every promotion carries with it the trust of the Filipino people. Gawin natin itong inspirasyon para mas pagbutihin pa ang ating serbisyo,” he said.
The PNP assures the public that it remains committed to upholding a transparent and merit-based promotion system, as it continues to build a more capable, responsive, and trustworthy police force—true to its vision of a Bagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas: Serbisyong Mabilis, Tapat at Nararamdaman.
