Tribu Katbalaugan goes to Tandaya Festival 2026!

Bringing the vibrant spirit of Catbalogan’s Manaragat Festival, selected members of Tribu Katbalaugan and Katig Manarayaw Organization proudly showcased the pride and culture of the City of Catbalogan during the Tandaya Festival 2026 opening salvo.

This event is organized by the Provincial Goverment of Samar through Samar Provincial Tourism, Culture and the Arts Office in participation of the The City Government of Catbalogan headed by City Mayor Dexter Uy through Catbalogan City Tourism, Culture, Arts & Information Office.

𝗗𝗶𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄?

Did you know that Catbalogan City through our Manaragat Festival was invited by Iloilo City for their 2026 Dinagyang ILOmination?

The ILOmination is an additional Dinagyang tribes competition where warriors wear colorfully lit costumes, which was first added in 2023.

Despite the early invitation, Catbalogan City did not participate due to lack of funds and should we have joined, it would be the first time that our Tribu Katbalaugan or any contingent in Eastern Visayas to join one of the country's largest and multi-awarded festivals.

This is the second invitation from Iloilo having been first invited in 2016 to participate in the 2017 Dinagyang Festival.

𝘾𝙤𝙢𝙚𝙗𝙖𝙘𝙠 𝙣𝙖 𝙗𝙖 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙨?

Catbalogan City has recently received invitation to join the 2026 Aliwan Fiesta to participate in the Dance Parade, Float, and Reyna ng Aliwan competitions.

The last time Catbalogan City joined was in 2017 through our very own Tribu Katbalaugan after joining for three (3) consecutive years and winning memorable feats, such as:

- Grand Champion 2015;
- Grand Champion 2016 and Reyna ng Aliwan 2nd Runner-Up represented by Ms. Lou Dominique Piczon;
- 3rd Place 2017.

Manaragat Festival of Catbalogan City as represented by Tribu Katbalaugan is the only festival in Eastern Visayas that has a record of a Back-to-Back Championship and the only festival in Samar to have ever won a Championship title.

As for 2026, no confirmation yet if this will be the comeback year for Manaragat Festival in the Grand Festival of Champions in Alliwan Fiesta.
