The Miami Heat's 1-3-1 pick-and-roll offense against the Denver Nuggets in Game 2 of the 2023 NBA Finals

This play is only suited for a team with catch-and-shoot players and cutters.

How do you apply this play to your game?

At first, the offensive team will form a slanting 1-3-1 arrangement. One on the top of the key, two on the wings, one on either elbows, and the other one on either corners.

On this play:

PG waits on the wing and is ready for a catch-and- shot three.
SG makes a screen, runs towards the right corner, and is ready to shoot for three.
SF serves as the ballhandler, reads the defense, and sets up a teammate for a catch-and-shoot three.
PF stays in the right corner and is ready for a catch-and-shoot three.
C makes a screen and moves from the left elbow to the top of the key to help set up a play for either wing.
