A deceased marine turtle was observed by one of our FCOA Coaches this morning, stranded along the shoreline in Brgy. San Antonio, Calapan City (besides Calapan Port - Gate 4)
The carcass appeared to have been washed ashore by wave action and was found trapped against a concrete coastal structure and a boat.
Based on the visible condition of the carcass, the turtle appears to have been dead for some time prior to being washed ashore. However, the exact time and cause of death cannot be determined from field observation alone and will require proper examination by the appropriate authorities.
Possibly a Green or Hawksbill turtle, the turtle shell shows significant damage, with large cracks and exposed inner layers.
It is advised to report deceased marine animals to local authorities, such as a DENR, LGU, environmental protection center, or emergency hotline.
Sea turtles are often threatened by boat strikes, plastic pollution, and illegal trade.
We already reported this incident to DENR & LGU for proper handling and potential investigation.

From the head pattern and visible scutes, the turtle appears to be a ๐๐ฟ๐ฒ๐ฒ๐ป ๐ฆ๐ฒ๐ฎ ๐ง๐๐ฟ๐๐น๐ฒ (๐๐ฉ๐ฆ๐ญ๐ฐ๐ฏ๐ช๐ข ๐ฎ๐บ๐ฅ๐ข๐ด), but species identification should be confirmed by marine wildlife personnel during the official assessment.
