BADMINTON RISING STAR #1

🏸 Tomoka Miyazaki: Japan’s Rising Star 🌸🇯🇵

She’s young. She’s fierce. She’s turning heads with every match. Tomoka Miyazaki is quickly becoming a name you must know in women’s singles.

🎯 Junior Champion & Fast Breakthrough – In 2022, as a first-year high schooler, she won the World Junior Championships in girls’ singles. That put her on the map, big time.

📈 Rocketing Up the Rankings – She climbed from outside the top 400 into the top 25 in just a year, after winning tournaments like Orleans Masters and other senior-level events.

🏆 Titles & Big Finals – She’s got several under her belt: a Super 300 win (Orléans Masters), senior titles, and finals appearances. She’s already shown she can mix it with the elite.

💡 Style Snapshot – Miyazaki combines smart shot selection with composure. Her game is more than power; she uses angles, deception, patience. Many compare her to Japanese greats like Akane Yamaguchi in court coverage.

🧠 Still Learning & Growing – She admits mental strength and physical power (especially upper-body/core) are areas she’s working on. With youth on her side, a lot of her development is still ahead.

🗓️ Recent Highlights –

Broke into the top 10 women’s singles in the world at just 18 years old.
Won the Taipei Open (Super 300) in 2025.

👉 Moral of the story: Tomoka Miyazaki reminds us that youth + smarts + consistency = unstoppable rise. She may not be at the top yet, but she’s closing the gap fast.

👉 Question for you:
If you were coaching Miyazaki, would you push her to develop aggressive power play or focus on keeping her deceptive, speedy, control style?

🏸 Fair Play in Badminton Starts with Proper Evaluation 🏸

In a recent Northern Mindanao, Philippines tournament, the beginners’ category showed a clear problem.

One team were true beginners — no rotation yet, inconsistent clears and smashes. The other team, though the commentator said they “only started months ago,” already had good footwork, solid strokes, and smart smashes/drops. That’s no longer beginner level.

This proves that ranking should not be based on how long you’ve played, but on your actual skills. Duration doesn’t define ability — skills do.

📊 Quick Guide to Philippines Badminton Levels

Level G – True beginner, inconsistent strokes, learning basics.

Level F – Casual, short rallies, weak footwork.

Level E – Developing, can smash/drop/net, joins club tourneys.

Level D – Intermediate, consistent strokes + strategy.

Level C – Advanced club player, years of training.

Level B – Ex-varsity, semi-competitive, sharp & tactical.

Level A – Elite, varsity, national pool, or pro.

🚫 When E or D players compete in G just to win medals, true beginners get discouraged and tournaments lose credibility. This is called sandbagging.

✅ Organizers should strictly evaluate skills, not years of play. Fair brackets = fair play. Badminton should be about improvement, competition, and fun — not shortcuts. 💪🏆

🏸 Tai Tzu Ying: The Queen of Deception 👑✨

When it comes to flair, creativity, and jaw-dropping trick shots, nobody does it quite like Tai Tzu Ying of Taiwan. She’s the player who makes badminton look like art.

🇹🇼 World No. 1 Royalty – Tai held the World No. 1 ranking for 214 weeks (that’s over 4 years!), the longest in women’s singles history. Her consistency made her the queen of the circuit.

🎭 Deception Master – She’s famous for her wristy trick shots, disguised drops, and no-look strokes. Opponents never know where the shuttle will land until it’s too late. Fans call her the “Magician of Badminton.”

🥇 Big Titles – She has won All England, Asian Games gold (2018), Asian Championships, and countless World Tour titles. Her 2020 Tokyo Olympics silver medal cemented her legacy on the biggest stage.

💔 The “Almost” Factor – Despite her dominance, she has yet to win a World Championship title. Sometimes her relaxed, artistic style struggles against power-driven players in crunch moments.

🎮 Chill Personality – Off court, Tai Tzu Ying is laid-back, humorous, and loves gaming. She once said she plays badminton “for fun first, results second”—a refreshing mindset in the high-pressure sports world.

👟 Signature Style – Her footwork is unique—smooth, flowing, and creative. Even her smashes have her own flair. Watching her is like watching badminton poetry.

💡 Trivia Bite – Tai Tzu Ying often practices crazy trick shots in training just for fun. Sometimes, those shots make it into real matches—and shock the crowd!

👉 Moral of the story: Tai Tzu Ying isn’t just about winning titles—she’s about making badminton beautiful. A true artist on court, she proved that creativity can rival raw power at the highest level.

👉 Question for you:
If you could steal one skill from Tai Tzu Ying, would it be her trick shots 🎭 or her smooth footwork 👟?
