Oscar Mistula began Aikido training in 1986.He trained with his first teacher Alexander Javier Sensei 4th Dan until early 1992 until he left for Sydney Australia in late 1999. He continued to practice and seek martial arts guidance from several Japanese Shihans and some Shidoins who frequently visited the Philippines. Ranked 5th Dan in Aikido (Aikikai International), a member of the IAF
(International Aikido Federation) and TAAA (Takemusu Aiki Association of Australia). At the Sydney City Dojo, he continues to train and learn from his teacher Saburo Takayasu Sensei 7th Dan Shihan. He has the special privilege of teaching in Takayasu Sensei's own private dojo on his recommendation. He visits the Philippines yearly to conduct regular training on Bukiwaza and Taijutsu. Assistant Senior Instructor James Tan started his Aikido training from Alexander Javier and continues to develop it with the guidance from Oscar Mistula. He broadens his Aikido knowledge thru constant training from what he gathers from both national and international seminars. He receives training from Moriteru Ueshiba Doshu in several international Aikido events. Assistant Instructor Emmanuel Ebabacol started his Aikido training from Alexander Javier and receives training instructions from Oscar Mistula. He broadens his knowledge in Aikido thru national seminars. Ranked 3rd Dan in Aikido and a member of the IAF.
