It all comes down to this: count all of the hours spent training, plus all of the time spent on the road, away from home. The battle with uncertainty: how far will I make it this year? The physical strain. The mental load.
For a brief infinity of glory.
It makes you wonder why we do it at all. Then you look back at these photographs and remember the cheers, the tears, the explosions in your chest that remind you, how good it is to be alive. To be surrounded by friends. To be held by family. To be in tune with something bigger than swell and tide. To be so lucky to be doing something you love, and be loved for it.
We do it for the waves— in and out of the water.

The Cabugao National Surfing Championships is presented by the Provincial Government of Ilocos Sur in partnership with the Ilocos Sur Surf Club. This Grade 3 event sanctioned by the United Philippine Surfing Association is the final leg of the Pilipinas Surfing National Tour 2025.
