Beach tennis was introduced in Boracay about 10 years ago (2012) by an Italian entrepreneur. He taught his staff how to play the game using an improvised pole that was made of bamboo and a beach tennis net. Initially, it was played at the beachfront in Station 2. It quickly gained popularity among the locals and now can be seen in all the stations of white beach including at the other side of Boracay, the Bulabog beach. Currently, Boracay has its own beach tennis club aptly named Boracay Beach Tennis Club headed by Mr. Its members are composed mainly of locals, entrepreneurs, staffs, including guests, etc. The primary goal of the group is not only to encourage a healthy lifestyle but also to promote friendship and camaraderie among its players.
