Don’t step on these urchins in the sea. They can kill you. However, if you eat them, as I did today, you are doing your part in saving humanity! 😝

I swear, all rules in Philippines are optional.. just suggestions.

A storm is coming, the sun is behind the clouds, the current and waves are crazy… and “no swimming” flags everywhere!

Yet.. we’re all out here.. swimming.. windsurfing and I even tried surfing for the first time. Been out here for hours.

The “rules are optional” philosophy suits me wonderfully!! My kind of place!

The sea urchin is bigger than my hand. I can’t take a pic to show comparison because you can’t touch these urchins. I’m waiting for the wet market guys to prepare them for me. Can’t wait!!

I can never have enough seafood!

Went to a couple of different beaches yesterday. We were on the east side of the island so the water was calm. Our sailing trip was canceled (on west side of island) due to wild sea conditions.

We met some kids… that is not unusual. They hung out with is for a while. We shared our snorkel gear with them and they brought us a crab. Can’t eat that one, but it was fun to play with. Yes.. we returned it to the ocean.

We also met a couple from France. They may visit us today and hang on our beach (Angol Beach - on west side), drink some wine/beer and share some food. However, word on the street is we may be in for a typhoon, so we’ll play it by ear. Sailing is definitely out today, but we have 3 more days to get that and our sea kayaking in. Our island hopping trip isn’t for another couple of days and most of the islands are on the east side. Whew!!

Looking forward to hanging at Angol Beach today - right outside the hotel - a nap and some fresh fish for lunch (the tilapia we bought yesterday).

Picked up fresh sea urchin and tilapia at the wet market yesterday! Yum!

Day 1/2 day pass for the hop on/off bus. Went to a few sites, bought new sandals at a mall, arranged for an island hopping tour, a sea kayaking excursion and a sailing experience for later this week.

Wiley’s rock is that rock formation. Pretty cool. Seas were rough and currents strong, so I couldn’t swim there, but I did walk out to the rock and watched the sailboats.

The teeth you see is a bracelet made from Trigger Fish teeth. The other bracelet is made from Python spine.

Everything here is fantastic. It’s low tourist season, too, so nothing is crowded! Bonus!!

Off to use the 2nd day of the 2 day hop on/off bus pass today. Hitting a couple of beaches and the sailing excursion is at 4:30pm.

By the end of the week I will have travelled and explored this entire island; it’s only 7km long, but each side of it is different.
