History was made tonight at the Southeast Asian Games as the Philippines defeated two reigning, defending football gold medalists in one incredible evening.

The Philippine Men’s National Football Team clinched a historic return to the SEA Games semi-finals—their first since 1991—after a 1-0 thriller against Indonesia, capped by an Otu Banatao header just before halftime.

The Philippine Women’s National Football Team kept their semi-final hopes alive, securing a crucial 1-0 victory over Vietnam thanks to a composed late finish from Mallie Ramirez off a brilliantly executed set piece. They now look ahead to a decisive clash against Malaysia on December 11.

Their 2025 group-stage performance was the best result ever for the country at this level, showcasing 2 wins, incredibly strong defensive displays with just 1 goal conceded, and outstanding tactical discipline. They secured their spot in the semi-finals after finishing as the best first-runner up of the knockout stage.
