The Monster is out. ⚡️
This is the Philippine Launch of the new Ducati Monster V2.
Ducati has officially unleashed the latest generation of its iconic naked sportbike on Philippine shores, and it brings a massive shift for the brand. The legendary Italian manufacturer have equipped the traditional Desmodromic valves in favor of a revolutionary new engine setup, creating a machine that is lighter, sharper, and every bit as aggressive as its predecessors.
At the heart of this beast sits a brand-new 890cc simply called the V2, a liquid-cooled, 90-degree V-twin engine. By moving away from the Desmo system, Ducati has introduced Intake Variable Valve Timing. This technology allows for a much broader and smoother powerband, resulting in an incredibly adaptable and playful engine that thrives in everyday city riding while still delivering the exhilarating punch expected from a Ducati on the open road.
When it comes to performance, the numbers speak for themselves. The new powerplant churns out an impressive 111hp at 9,000 rpm, alongside 91 Nm of torque peaking at 7,250 rpm. All of this translates to a reported top speed of approximately 225 kilometers per hour. To complement the power, the new chassis and engine updates have reduced the weight—the entire bike now tips the scales at an incredibly light 175kg (wet weight) without fuel, making it 4 kilograms lighter than the outgoing generation.
Despite these aggressive performance figures, Ducati has ensured that the new Monster remains incredibly approachable for a wide range of riders. The standard seat height sits at a comfortable 815mm. For those who prefer a closer reach to the ground, an accessory seat combined with a suspension lowering kit can drop that height down to an ultra-low 775 millimeters.
If the specifications on this new 890cc V2 engine sound familiar, there is a very good reason for it. Ducati did not just build this engine exclusively for the Monster. This exact same lightweight powerhouse is the shared heartbeat of Ducati's newest generation of middleweight titans, specifically the Panigale V2, the Streetfighter V2, and the Multistrada V2.
