Posting the essay written by Sharon Zeanreh.
During my early years of teaching, I had always looked forward to my retirement. I had always envisioned myself not wanting to do anything but relax, rest, and unwind. I figured that I would be able to finally get back the freedom that I had once had before teaching. So for about two years now, I have finally retired from checking test papers, making grades , and basically working from Mondays thru Fridays.
While enjoying the early months into my retirement, I figured what retiring really means to me.
R- Reflect
E- Emotions
T- Travel
I- Inner Self
R- Rest
E- Exercise
I have time to reflect, catch up with my emotions of having the void of a job title and a job per se, travel with my family and friends to build more memories together, focus on my Inner Self , rest my mind and body , and finally it’s a time to exercise my body. Being alone is something I am dealing with ever since my husband has passed on and my sons have gone away to chase their dreams. These are the negative emotions of my retirement— isolation and sadness. I tried several things to divert my sadness but it didn’t seem to work.
Fortunately, I have friends who have started ropeflow. I have never heard about this until a year ago. Everything about it was new to me. It was a challenging sport but I reckon it could help me go through melancholic days. It’s Day One or One Day, they say. And I chose to show up at one of the ropeflow practices.
It was Day 1, 2 ,3 and so on. I found myself enjoying this activity so much that I have been doing it for a year now. Ropeflow has made a significant impact on my personal image and overall well-being. Engaging in it has improved my physical fitness, coordination, and agility, which has greatly contributed my confidence confident and positive self-image. I have seen improvements in my strength and endurance through ropeflow. I feel more empowered and capable in my life.
Furthermore, ropeflow has contributed to my mental health. It helped reduced stress and increased my feelings of happiness and well-being.
Ultimately, the positive changes in my physical and mental well-being through ropeflow has translated into a more positive self-image and a greater sense of personal satisfaction and fulfillment in my life.
