March of the Kooks! Last year was a blast, this coming March 20 to 23 promises to be bigger and kookier. Inviting all members of the group, avid surfer or just a beginner, to join us in Baler for KookFest 2024. Let us welcome the sunny swell with a bang! 💥

This year we added a BEGINNERS division. Newbies can surf with a surf instructor of choice. Just stand up, get a long ride and smile all the way. We will be cheering for you!

Also, there is this thing we call the Kook Crawl. We gather in one place to consume lots of drinks and then hop on to another. Story goes some people are still recovering from this. Your presence is a must 😃

If you plan to visit both competitions in Palawan this January, you should definitely consider flying into Puerto Princesa and then renting a car in town. The most cost effective is to visit the rental row directly outside of the gate of the airport. We usually send one person to walk out and get a car while the others wait there in the airport with our gear.

There is an airport in San Vicente which is about 20 mins from the surf spot in Alimanguan which might be ideal if you are just planning to attend the San Vic comp. There are no rentals at this airport but there are some local motor bikes to rent around town once you get to the place you will stay.

You can get a good deal on small, medium or larger cars and they tend to give you a better deal when you rent for a number of days. You can also take a van to the spots but it’s really ideal to have a car when you are in Palawan to appreciate the many destinations available to you and with a group it can be pretty affordable. Smaller cars will cost 1000-2000 per day and for a pickup expect to pay 2500-3500 per day.

From the city you can drive to Nagtabon in about 50 minutes and you can drive to Alimanguan, San Vicente in about 3 hours on fairly good roads but look out for the occasional pot-hole sneaking up on you when you don’t expect it.

Im not sure about the Van to Nagtabon but the Vans going to Alimanguan cost about 400 pesos Be prepared to wait in the terminal while the van fills up with passengers. I waited 4 and a half hours the first time I took the public van and almost missed my flight. There are also buses but they go to san vicente and you will need to hire another trike or motor bike to get you the last 15 KM to Alimanguan beach.

We’re getting into comp mode as we welcome the new year! MSA is invited to be part of two open competitions that will be held in the beautiful island of Palawan

🏝️ Treasures of Nagtabon Invitational on Jan.17-20
🏝️ Paragua San Vic Surf comp on Jan.30 - Feb.4, 2023.

Triple crown points will be up for grabs as the MSA 2023-24 comp season culminates with these two events.

This will be an open competition so bring your A game! MSA members have levelled up their surfing considerably in the past years and this will be a good test to show how far we have gone as we go up against other local surf clubs.

This is also a perfect chance to execute our mission-vision of helping out other surf communities to grow sustainably.
