The holiday season is upon us, Heavy traffic, Holiday tension, Hectic schedule and lane filtering monkeys like myself --- although I do it responsibly,..... all these factors contribute to our very own common enemy, "Gridlock Grumpiness" like Santa straight out of a Mad Max movie.
let's talk a little about road rage or what I call "Traffic Temper Tantrum" for both 2 wheelers and cagers alike... but the most part are for motorcycle riders.
A direct relationship between road rage and the holiday rush during the holiday season are traffic volume tends to increase due to people traveling and the combination of frustration, time pressure, and crowded roads can cause drivers to feel impatient or aggressive.,,,
Additionally, the holiday rush may lead to drivers being more distracted or hurried, further contributing to unsafe driving behaviors.
Additionally, Road rage fatalities are blooming at 72 thousand reported road rage related occurrences in Metro Manila in 2022 alone,
a psychologist once told me, it's a matter of Objectification.,,,
with road rage, We don't fight other drivers, we fight Traffic.
we tend to say, F* that 2.8 or the Green Hyundai that cut me off.
Our conceptualization makes it easier to hate the object rather than the driver behind the wheel,...
Case in point,
-Just like those Revving Maniacs who casually wakes you up at 3am.,,,
-or lane splitters who always want to stay at the front end of a busy intersection.
but, oftentimes, I blame self-proclaimed moto vloggers for setting a terrible example and for taking it waaaayyyy toooooooo far,
indeed, hunting for altercations is a great way to get views and get paid, ........but it's also a very cheap way for views because now we have a generation of impressionable Riders and Drivers who thinks it's their responsibility to correct the way people drive.
Road Rage is highly preventable, just pay no mind at all and mind your own damn business........ don't get to the point where you need to ask the insect on your car's bumper whether you had the right of way.
The Proper fix to this conundrum?? It's as easy and as difficult all at the same time: "DO NOTHING!!!"
always remember folks, "Rage passes, it's only for a moment"
Lets all watch out for one another on the road and look out after everyone's 6 o'clock, Happy Holidays!!
