A rare moment above the bonsai forest of Mt. Madja-as.

On June 14, 2026, around 11 AM during our Panay Pinnacle 100: Madjaas–Nangtud Expedition, a perfect ring suddenly appeared around the sun.

This phenomenon is called a 22° solar halo formed when sunlight passes through tiny ice crystals high in the atmosphere.

For a few minutes, the mountain gave us one more reason to stop, look up, and remember the journey.

POV: you’re hiking in Bitas Trail, Mt. Madja-as… then suddenly this view appears.

Multiple waterfalls, endless green cliffs, and clouds wrapping the mountain like a dream.

This is why Mt. Madja-as never stops amazing us.

Ever seen a forest like this in Panay?

High up in Mt. Madjaas, the trees don’t grow the way we normally see them.

Years of strong winds, rain, cold, and mist have kept them small and twisted—almost like a natural bonsai garden in the middle of the wild.

Not all highlights of an expedition happen at the summit.

Somewhere along the Bitas Trail, while making our way up Mt. Madja-as, the clouds suddenly opened and a rainbow appeared across the mountains.

For a few minutes, we forgot about the long climb ahead and simply watched.

Sometimes, the best part of the journey happens before you reach the top.

Mt. Nangtud is one of those mountains that you really have to work for.

Long approach, plenty of river crossings, steep climbs, and hours inside the forest before you even get close to the summit.

Not many people get to see this side of Antique, and maybe that’s what makes Nangtud special.
