CHAPTER CLOSED
The One Amulung Sports League 2023 ended last sunday after a gruelling 7 months of competition in Basketball and volleyball.
We almost had it!
We gave it our all the whole season, we made a huge run but unfortunately, we fell short.
Still, congratulations to our women’s volleyball team and 21&U basketball team for fighting until the end, and for finishing 1st runner-up. Although this stings & hurts now, we will come out of this stronger & battle tested.
The Women's team ranked 3rd in their category in the elimination round out of 13 teams, and advanced to the championship round where they faced Pacac Grande. Having a best of 3 games in the championship, the battle ended in 2 games with 5 setter matches, and settled for a first runner-up finish.
Meanwhile, the Men's Baketball Team finished the elimination round at top 2 out of 30 teams, thus securing a spot in the quarterfinals. Fastforward to the championship game, they faced the tough team, the biggest rival of Centro in basketball since early 2010s, the Estefania basketball team.
There wouldn’t be a better way to end the league than the way both these teams compete in the final game. In the deciding game 5, fastforward to the climax of the game, the Centro team has taken the lead in the last 2 minutes of the 4th quarter however their opponent pushed for a tie to end the quarter that forced for a 5 minute extension of the final game.
Unfortunately, the men's team suffered the same fate as the ladies and fell short and settled for a first runner-up finish after the opposing team dominated the extra period.
Huge thank you to all the people behind this tournament, thank you for this big and wonderful opportunity for our athletes, a lot of talented and skillful young bloods has been revealed and discovered. And kudos to the organizers of this event One Amulung Sports League 2023, the tournament manager and the man in charge, Hon. Mayor Elpidio Rendon, you guys did an awesome job! It’s indeed the biggest, longest and the best league in our town. Congratulations! This event will surely be remembered for a long time.
To the participants and their supporters, you showed the reasons for the popularity of the game, and how so much fun it is to be part of it, you were all amazing.
To the winners, YOU PUT ON A REAL GREAT SHOW! What an amazing set of championship games. Congratulations!
To our amazing players, my co-players, thank you for your phenomenal skills, dedication, and sportsmanship. Your hard work and teamwork truly shined through, showing us why we’ve made it to the semi finals and championship.
To all the spectators, our heartfelt gratitude goes out to you for coming out in full force to cheer on our teams. Your energy, enthusiasm, and unwavering support created an incredible atmosphere throughout the game. The roaring cheers, nail-biting chants, and encouraging applause added a whole new level of excitement to our matches. You all truly made this league unforgettable to us!
Our heartfelt gratitude goes also to our sponsors who have generously supported us in this tournament. Your commitment to our community and your investment in our league has not gone unnoticed. Thank you for your belief in the power of sports to bring people together and for defraying our needs all through out the league.
Same gratitude to our referees and officials, thank you for ensuring fair play and upholding the integrity of the game. Your expertise and knowledge are invaluable and are vital. We commend your dedication to promoting a spirit of fair competition.
Special thanks to our Barangay officials, your support to the sports program in the community is very much appreciated. Without any hesistation, you offered and allowed us to join the biggest league to ever happen in Amulung History. Thank you as well to LGU - GSO staff and the hardworking security guards for allowing us to use our gumnasium for our trainings and practices.
FUN FACT: Centro teams even had to argue during the season due to schedule conflicts with the use of the gymnasium, as we only have our Municipal gymnasium as our training facilty 😅. Pero at the end of the day, kami pa rin naman ang magkakampi. 🤣
Congratulations as well to our 15&U basketball for finishing 3rd runner-up in ther category! Way to go kiddos! To our Men’s volleyball team and 21&U team 2, heads up! We can always make it up to the coming leagues 😉 Continue to show up and strive in our next tournaments.
This season has truly been the best learning experience not just for us but for everyone. The amount of growth and resiliency we have shown is incredible, and we cannot wait for what the future has in store for all of us, specially the young bloods. ♥️
