๐ ๐๐๐, ๐๐๐๐๐ ๐ ๐๐๐.
This was the first piece of writing advice Iโve ever received. I took a one-day elective course back in college, and the teacher wrote these words on the board, simple and unassuming.
Back then, I was reading books by Nicholas Sparks and buying W.I.T.C.H. graphic novels with allowance money. I had a difficult time adjusting to the social climate of a big university, feeling like a swamp creature walking amongst glittery fairy folk.
I was caught between wanting to do extra-curricular activities and submitting a story to the schoolโs literary folio (I never did) and being content with disappearing behind a mound of photocopied hand-outs and just get through the next 3 years.
Being in that classroom talking about writing was one of the rare times I felt I was where I was supposed to be.
