The 2025 UPNG Battle of the Schools basketbaBasketball Federation of Papua New Guinea Incthree weeks ago. Students and supporters gathered at the University of Papua New Guinea (UPNG) basketball courts to watch the first games of the season. The event was full of energy, with teams from different schools showing great skill and teamwork on the court.

A special guest at the season opener was Mr. David Peter, President of the Basketball Federation of Papua New Guinea. He officially launched the 2025 season and shared a few words of encouragement with the players and crowd. His presence was a big motivation for the young athletes, and his support continues to inspire basketball growth at UPNG and in other universities.

Organizers thanked Mr. Peter for always supporting basketball at UPNG. The event marks a strong start to what promises to be an exciting season. More games are lined up in the coming weeks, and the university community is looking forward to more action on the court.

The UPNG Basketball Association is gearing up for its annual competition, Battle of the Schools, which is set to begin in April. To support the upcoming season, the association hosted a 3x3 Hustle today at the home court as a fundraiser. This event aims to help with preparations and ensure a successful launch of the competition.

Now entering its third year, Battle of the Schools has been a key event for the association. President James Baida, Vice President Natasha Andrew, and the rest of the executive team and committees have been working hard behind the scenes to make this year’s season even better. Players have also been gathering at the courts in the afternoons for scrimmage sessions, getting back in shape and building excitement for the tournament.

Meanwhile, registration for students who want to participate is still open. Those interested are encouraged to sign up and be part of this exciting competition. πŸ€πŸ‡΅πŸ‡¬
