The PNG Chiefs' CEO Lorna McPherson has set the record straight on the franchise's recruitment strategy, making it clear that any local or heritage Papua New Guinean selected for the top 30 roster must strictly meet elite National Rugby League (NRL) standards.

"If we put players out that are not at that level and then we get the wooden spoon, believe me, PNG is not going to be happy," McPherson said.

James Hooper has reported on the Rugby League Insider podcast that the PNG Chiefs have Raiders star Hudson Young on their radar!

Hooper has revealed that Chiefs recruitment manager Liam Ayoub has denied the rumours, however Ayoub is the son of Hudson Young’s manager Sam Ayoub so you’d assume these conversations and dirty tactics are happening behind the scenes, the Raiders have tabled an extension and Don Furner has revealed on the Up The Milk podcast they’ll be meeting with Ayoub next week hoping to extend Hudson before he’s eligible to go to market on November 1.
Making all the pieces fit here, the Raiders are looking to have a fight on their hands.

Matt King has been announced as the new NSW Blues coach, with a two-year deal to be finalised today.

After retiring from playing NRL in 2013, King has been on the coaching team for the South Sydney Rabbitohs, the Sydney Roosters, and has been assistant coach for the Blues for the last three years.

It comes after Laurie Daley confirmed this morning that he won't coach the Blues again.

Alex Johnston scored 1 try this afternoon and that brings his total career NRL Tries to 232.🤯

The PNG LNG Kumuls star once said during his signing media conference with the PNG Chiefs in Port Moresby that he would love to score his 250th NRL Try in PNG Chiefs colors...It would be super exciting to celebrate that milestone with the PNG fans.

We hope that he score his 250th Try in 2028 and not in 2027 during his final season with the Rabbitohs 🐰

When PNG Chiefs was first announced as the 19th NRL Team, folks joked bout it thinking no NRL star would ever choose to live and play for PNG. But when big name NRL stars showing interest in playing for PNG Chiefs, everyone eventually pops up saying it's unfair to other clubs! Get over it! 😃

Uncle Bennett should consider retirement. At his age, he should not be stressing himself talking bout things that cannot be changed.
