Yoga teachers — if a pregnant student walks into your class, you don’t need to panic.
But you CAN learn how to support her.
One of the biggest mistakes I see is treating prenatal yoga like a checklist:
“Don’t do this pose.”
“Use a block here.”
“Never lie on your back.”
“Pregnant women shouldn’t do ___.”
But pregnancy isn’t that simple.
Her body is changing constantly — and those changes go far beyond the growing belly.
Breathing, balance, core pressure, pelvic floor function, energy, mobility, joint stability and comfort can all change throughout pregnancy.
And what works beautifully for one pregnant student may not work for another.
That’s why prenatal education shouldn’t just teach you what not to do.
You need to understand the why behind the modifications so you can look at the person in front of you, understand what’s happening in her body, and offer appropriate options with confidence.
That’s exactly what we dive into inside my 85-Hour RPYT Prenatal & Postnatal Yoga Teacher Training — so you can feel prepared when a pregnant student walks into your class, rather than second-guessing every pose.
If you’ve ever had a pregnant student walk into your class and thought, “Wait… am I supposed to modify this?” — this training is for you. 🤍
