What a joy it is to be able to connect with Life, to breathe deeply, to let it speak to us, awaken us and make its flame grow within us. 🔥

Through our bodies and our movements, we can go to places that are full of life, intelligence, subtlety and beauty, and this wonder that we see on the outside can make us realise that it's also inside us... 🍃🚶‍♀️

Waterfalls are one of those magical places whose inexplicable beauty touches us deeply. 💧

Going out to explore and see a waterfall, a mountain, a new landscape, is always an experience full of surprises. ✨
We often meet local people or even the owner of the land who let us pass gently and make us be aware of the reality of their lives.

Along the way, we meet dogs, flowers, birds, cows, pretty little houses standing far away from everything and it reminds us that we are guests in this beautiful environment. 🌸🌾🐾

In all our experiences, we met wonderful people who have given rise to laughter, offered bananas, shared their vision of life, their funny anecdotes and we can say the Santa Fe region inhabitants are welcoming and open-hearted humans! 🤗🍋🍌

Salir a explorar y ver una cascada, una montaña, un paisaje nuevo, siempre es una experiencia llena de sorpresas. ✨
A menudo nos encontramos con lugareños o incluso con el dueño del terreno que nos dejan pasar amablemente y nos hacen ser conscientes de la realidad de sus vidas.

A lo largo del camino, nos encontramos con perros, flores, pájaros, vacas, bonitas casitas lejos de todo y recordamos que somos huéspedes en este hermoso entorno. 🌸🌾🐾

En todas nuestras experiencias, conocimos personas maravillosas que provocaron risas, ofrecieron bananas, compartieron su visión de la vida, sus divertidas anécdotas y podemos decir que la gente de la región de Santa Fe es acogedora, ¡humanos de corazón abierto! 🤗🍋🍌

In Panama, there are some twenty species of parrot.🦜

Most of them are essentially green in plumage, and macaws are the main exception, as some are coated in red or blue and yellow.
However, macaws have declined greatly in Panama, and are only found in remote regions and especially in the undisturbed forests of the far eastern part of the country.
As for the parrots, they are found numerous, especially in the forested lowlands.
In the Santa Fe region, in the national park's forests or near the Caribbean Sea, it is common to see these green parrots and they are easily spotted, especially early in the morning when they fly to feeding areas. ✨

En Panamá hay unas veinte especies de loros.🦜

La mayoría son de plumaje esencialmente verde, y las guacamayas son la principal excepción, ya que algunas están revestidas de rojo o de azul y amarillo.
Sin embargo, los guacamayos han disminuido mucho en Panamá, y sólo se encuentran en regiones remotas y especialmente en los bosques inalterados del extremo oriental del país.
En cuanto a los loros, se encuentran en gran número, sobre todo en las tierras bajas boscosas.
En la región de Santa Fe, en los bosques del parque nacional o cerca del mar Caribe, es común ver a estos loros verdes y se les ve fácilmente, sobre todo temprano en la mañana cuando vuelan hacia las áreas donde se alimentan.

Rice is an important part of Panamanian life.
In fact, we find it on their plates at almost every meal! 😆

Some locals in and around Santa Fe have continued to practice the art of growing rice. 🌾
Many Panamanians had this art in the past, but they have gradually abandoned it in favor of buying rice from the stores.
While the effort and price are lower, so is the quality of the product.

Mountain rice has a rich, savory flavor, and you can feel the care and love of the person who has grown and harvested it.

Like this local, who cleans the rice with patience and know-how ☺️

El arroz es una parte importante de la vida de los panameños.
De hecho, lo encontramos en sus platos en casi todas las comidas.😆

Algunos lugareños de Santa Fe y sus alrededores han seguido practicando el arte de cultivar arroz. 🌾
Un arte que muchos tuvieron en el pasado, pero que han ido abandonando en favor de comprarlo en las tiendas.
Aunque el esfuerzo y el precio son menores, la calidad del producto es muy inferior.

El arroz de montaña tiene un sabor rico y sabroso, y se nota el cuidado y el amor de la persona que lo ha cosechado.

The Santa Maria River is really important in all the area of Santa Fe and Veraguas. 💧

It rises in the center of the national park, in the municipality of Pantano, and flows for 168 kilometers down to the Pacific Ocean, in the Gulf of Parita.

It crosses the provinces of Veraguas, Coclé and Herrera, making it the most important watershed in the central provinces.

Just in Santiago, this basin supplies 43 million gallons of drinking water per day for 70,000 users.
In addition, the waters of the Santa Maria River are vital for the development of agricultural and industrial activities that benefit more than 150,000 Panamanians.

This river brings life to many human beings, animals and all the flora. 🐟

Despite its crucial importance, the Santa Maria is threatened in many ways: deforestation in its watershed, lateral erosion on its banks, contamination etc.

So, on July 4, 2022, a law was passed (law 171) declaring the Santa Maria river basin a protected area of national natural heritage and hydrological reserve !

El río Santa María es un río importante para la región de Santa Fe y de todo Veraguas. 💧
Nace en el centro del parque nacional, en el corregimiento del Pantano, y desemboca a lo largo de 168 kilómetros en el océano Pacífico, en el golfo de Parita.

Atraviesa las provincias de Veraguas, Coclé y Herrera, lo que la convierte en la cuenca hidrográfica más importante de las provincias centrales.

Sólo en Santiago, esta cuenca suministra 43 millones de galones de agua potable al día para 70.000 usuarios.
Además, las aguas del río Santa María son vitales para el desarrollo de actividades agropecuarias e industriales que benefician a más de 150.000 panameños.

Este río da vida a muchos seres humanos, así como a animales y a toda la flora. 🐟

A pesar de su importancia crucial, el Santa María está amenazado de muchas maneras: la deforestación en su cuenca, la erosión lateral en sus orillas, contaminación etc.

Así que, el 4 de julio de 2022 se aprobó una ley (ley 171) que declara la cuenca del río Santa María zona protegida del patrimonio natural nacional y reserva hidrológica !

Butterflies... 🦋
These delicate and fascinating creatures have an important place in the heart of Panama.
In fact, some say that the name "Panama" means "abundance of fish and butterflies" in the language of the native peoples of this region.

This country has truly a great richness and abundance of wildlife. 🦎🐟🦜
Panama has thousands different species of butterflies, which represents 10% of the total number of species on the planet.

These insects are very present in nature, especially near the waterfalls, where they can be seen in all colors! ✨

They show us a world of beauty and gaiety, inviting us to live lightly and beautifully.

Estas delicadas y fascinantes criaturas ocupan un lugar importante en el corazón de Panamá.

It's always a joy to go for an adventure and discover new natural beauties! ✨
Along the way, the unknown reveals itself.
Sometimes there are good as not so good surprises: unexpected climbs, a missed junction, a river to cross, slippery stones... but there are also butterflies, large and tall trees, unknown flowers and above all a waterfall much bigger and more impressive than we could ever have imagined... 🦋

Santa Fe, a small, authentic village in the highlands of Panama, is surrounded by the tropical jungle of the Santa Fe National Park.
The park lies at the heart of the Cordillera Central, which extends from the Costa Rican border in the west to the province of Panama in the east.

This mountain chain, which is the backbone of Panama, is the dividing line between the Pacific Ocean and the Caribbean Sea. ⛰

Este parque está justo en el centro de la cordillera central, que se extiende desde la frontera con Costa Rica, al oeste, hasta la provincia de Panamá, al este.

Esta cordillera forma la espina dorsal de Panamá y es la línea divisoria entre el océano Pacífico y el mar Caribe. ⛰
Es de gran importancia, ya que de la cumbre de estos picos nacen numerosos ríos que fluyen tanto hacia el norte como hacia el sur.
Estos ríos aportan riqueza y abundancia tanto a la naturaleza como a las personas. 🍃🐟
