What a way to wrap up the 2026 season — roll-ups, awards, great food, a few drinks, and plenty of top-tier banter to match the bowling.

This season wasn’t just good… it was record-breaking. We saw our biggest-ever group of active and competitive juniors take to the green — and they didn’t come to make up the numbers. Our first-year juniors came out firing, setting the bar high and giving the rest something to chase all season long.

Our juniors didn’t just participate — they showed up where it counts. A record number stepped into Club Championship games, with several earning their place on the honours board (not bad for the “young guns” 👏). They also gave the interclub games a good nudge, took part in outside tournaments, and made it to the podium.

A big shoutout to our executive committee and senior members for building a club where players of all levels can thrive — on the green and off it. That’s what makes Woodend Bowling Club a special place.

To our head greenkeeper, Stu Jenkins and his team — a special thank you from all the juniors for your patience and for keeping the green in top shape despite the countless practice hours!

From record numbers to rising stars… It’s only up from here.

Last Saturday was a fun day on the green where the Club President and Club Captain went head to head in a drawn triples tournament which included a quiz. The President took the honours!!

Kicked off with a feed and then on to the green for some fun coupled with background music.
What a way to wrap a great season. Closing day today before the winter break. Bring on more fun bowls!! 😊

Brendon defeated his brother in law in the 1&2 Club Championship final.

This past Sunday Brendon went on to represent the club at the 1&2 Champion of Champions and won all his 3 games in the post section to qualify for the Semifinal to be held on the 18th of April.

Pam Stevens and Cory Abernethy ( a first year player), defeated Sarndra and Hamish Cleland in the final of the 2x4x2 Pairs championship final. A very close game , one shot the difference. Wow!!!!.
Pam and Cory will represent our club in the centre champion of champions play offs, on Saturday March Sunday 22nd. The draw will be done next week. All the very best to both players.
