The Fun Sticks Hockey programme is designed for those in school Years 0-2.

This is an Introduction-to-Hockey programme for all kids aged 4-6 years old. Fun Sticks is designed to give kids - novice and developing - the chance to have a go at hockey, learn new skills, and make new friends.

SESSION DAYS/TIMES:
- FRIDAY - 4pm-5pm
- SATURDAY - 9am-10am

START DATES:
- Friday - 15 May, 2026
- Saturday - 16 May, 2026

COST:
The cost is a set fee of $30.00 for the term. It will cost $30.00 whether you attend 1 or all sessions

GRADING FESTIVAL - THIS SUNDAY!

We are still waiting for the draw and final details from Hockey Northland but here is a what we know so far!

The purpose of Sunday is to get all the Year 5 & 6 teams together to confirm they have been entered into the correct grade. A grading committee will be watching the games to ensure a fair draw for the season.

✨ Games start from 8am, until 12pm - HN have requested teams are there for the full duration
✨ Held at Kensington Stadium
✨ Children must have Hockey Stick, Shin guards, Mouth Guard and be dressed in Maunu Hockey uniform (these will be handed out at practice today).
✨ Games will be 12 minutes long, Round Robin format
✨ Please bring snacks, drinks etc as we are unsure if the usual food vendors will be open, but Te Kamo Intermediate will be running a Sausage Sizzle so bring some coins!
✨ Coaches will need to bring game balls and teams will need to provide an umpire for each game

The Year 7&8's are due to start at 12.30pm

These April School Holidays, join us to learn and develop new hockey skills, play games, and make new friends.

April Holiday Programme Information:

🏑WEEK 1: Tuesday 7th, Wednesday 8th, Thursday 9th April
🏑WEEK 2: Tuesday 14th, Wednesday 15th, Thursday 16th April

TIME: 9am - 3pm Daily
WHO: Year 3-8 School Students
WHERE: Whangarei ITM Hockey Centre - 45 Park Ave, Kensington

COST: $55 per day, per participant (includes lunch)

Participants will need to bring:
- SNEAKERS/SPORTS SHOES
- Hockey gear - Hockey Northland can provide spare hockey sticks
- Wear appropriate clothing to play sports in
- Change of clothes
- Sunhat
- Sunblock - We will ensure we have some available.
- Named water bottle
- Snacks for morning tea.

🏑 SAVE THE DATE: Grading Festival 2026!
Get those sticks ready! The Northland Hockey Grading Festival is locked in for Sunday, 19th April.

This day is all about making sure our teams are placed in the right grades for a fair season ahead. It’s a great chance for the players to get some turf time and find their rhythm before the official rounds begin.

The Details:
📅 When: Sunday, 19th April
📍 Where: Hockey Northland Kensington
⏰ Times: Specific game times to be confirmed but it will be held in the morning

JUNIOR TWILIGHT | YEAR 4-6 SUMMER 6's 🏑

Looking for a fun way to keep your hockey skills sharp over the summer? Summer Hockey is almost here! Get your friends together and join us for JUNIOR TWILIGHT | SUMMER 6's – a relaxed, social competition for Year 4, 5, and 6 participants.

Games are short, fast and full of action, giving kids a chance to play alongside friends. Whether they are new to hockey or a seasoned player, Junior Twilight is a great way to stay active and involved.
TEAM ENTRY COST: $110.00
