The Kensington Club Champ Junior Pairs were held on Sunday. Congrats to Andy McKinlay and Rob Pooley, your 2025/26 Junior Pairs Champs defeating Eileen Conaghan and Vicki Plaisted in what was a truly epic final. All 4 bowlers played some outstanding bowls in a game that went right down to the wire with Andy & Rob winning 18-17 on the final end.
Well done all.

Bowls Green Renovation – Bottom green- Thursday 23/4/2026:

Our big day has finally arrived – the resowing of the bottom green with a combination of Maniatoto and Starweed.

After a month-long delay due to cyclone events causing heavy rain and wind, we finally had the opportunity to sow.

Under the direction of Roly Brown from Waipu and Colin & Wayne Neal from Managawhai the job has been completed.

A good team of volunteers turned out and Dave the greenkeeper from Maungatapere, joined us.

We as a club are truly indebted to the help and advice given by Roly, Colin and Wayne.

There has been a steady stream of volunteer help within the club and to each and everyone of you thank you very much.

What a fun night it was on Saturday for the Kensington Club Alphabet Horse Racing Prize Giving, quite a bit of "Horsing Around"
After 26 weeks, congrats to our overall winners Nana & Hannah (Bonecrusher group) plus Steve and Kathy (Phar Lap group)
2nd place: Leigh, Jude and Pat (Bonecrusher) and Michele and
Colin (Phar Lap)
3rd Place: Rob Valder (Bonecrusher) and Ash Bare (Phar Lap)
We also had the running of the Kensington Club Classic Dash 4 Cash, featuring Hoof Hearted, Backhand Bias, Cheeky Boy, Saddle Sore, Get Me Another and Equine Elvis.
The Winner: #4 Saddle Sore...Owners: Rob Valder & Ann Muir, Jockey - Ann Muir.
2nd Place: #5 Get Me Another...Owner: Maree Attwood, Jockey - Thelma McMurchy.
3rd Place: #6 Equine Elvis: Owner: Craigh Fyfe (C4) Jockey - Reima Fyfe.
All horses pulled up very well, while some jockeys were a little sore the next morning.

A massive congrats to a long time member of our Club, Warren "Wok"Jones on becoming Northland Rugby's latest Life Member. Incredibly well deserved for such a lovely gentleman who bleeds Cambridge Blue. Wok enjoys coming along to our Club for a Roll Up and watching plenty of bowls too. Wok, on behalf of all Kensington Club members and supporters, congratulations, we salute you.

It was wonderful Easter Weekend of Bowls with the Kensington Easter 2 Day Classic. Firstly a huge shout out goes to Turners Cars Whangarei and Yovich Advisory for the sponsorship of this great weekend, thank you Andy McKinlay & Paul Yovich, greatly appreciated. Thank you to Ann, Pat and Maree for all the work you did behind the scenes to ensure a smoothly run tournament. Also, to those Club members who helped out setting up, packing up and in the Kitchen putting together a fabulous afternoon tea. Finally, to all the players that took part in the tournament, thank you.
See you all again in 2027.

A massive congrats to Fisha Murray on winning the PlaceMakers Northland Centre Champ of Champs Women's Singles on Saturday defeating Karina Cooper in the final. This is a remarkable effort considering just days ago, Fisha put her shoulder out and was in a race against time to be match fit and ready to go.
Well done Fisha, a wonderful result.
What a few weeks for the Club. Our women's fours, triples and now Fisha, all Centre Champs and will head to the National Champion of Champion events and be gunning for National glory.

Another great result for the Club this weekend. Congrats to Ann Muir, Diane Strawbridge (replacement for the injured Fisha Murray) and Barbara Hopper, taking out the Northland Centre Women's Triples Champ of Champs Title.
With this win, Ann Muir claimed her 35th Centre Title (7th Gold Star) and Barbara Hopper claimed her first Gold Star (5 Centre Titles)
Outstanding ladies, well done!!
