We're looking for an energetic, motivated and people-focused Female Development Officer to help grow the game of cricket for girls and women throughout Northland.

This is more than a coaching role. You'll be inspiring the next generation, creating exciting opportunities, building strong relationships with schools and clubs, and leading initiatives that make cricket fun, welcoming and accessible for everyone.

🏏𝗜𝗡𝗗𝗢𝗢𝗥 𝗖𝗥𝗜𝗖𝗞𝗘𝗧 – 𝗥𝗢𝗨𝗡𝗗 𝟴 𝗥𝗘𝗩𝗜𝗘𝗪 🏏

Round 8 delivered many things.
History.
An upset.
Several public beatings.
And perhaps most concerning of all...
Whangarei Warriors appeared to be enjoying themselves. For eight weeks the competition has been searching for weaknesses. Instead we've discovered they can smile while doing this. The rest of the league should be very worried.
Most importantly...
LB Collision made history.
And once again...
Ash was absent.
At this point the injury may actually be real. The investigation continues.

🔥 𝗪𝗜𝗖𝗞𝗘𝗧 𝗪𝗔𝗥𝗥𝗜𝗢𝗥𝗦 𝗛𝗔𝗩𝗘 𝗢𝗙𝗙𝗜𝗖𝗜𝗔𝗟𝗟𝗬 𝗔𝗥𝗥𝗜𝗩𝗘𝗗
𝗪𝗶𝗰𝗸𝗲𝘁 𝗪𝗮𝗿𝗿𝗶𝗼𝗿𝘀 𝟵𝟱 𝗱𝗲𝗳. 𝗟𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗥𝗲𝗱 𝟯𝟰
At some point we need to stop describing Wicket Warriors as a surprise.
Three straight wins. Three straight statements.
And another established contender left wondering what just happened.
Lion Red entered Round 8 needing a response after last week's encounter with the Whangarei Warriors freight train.
Instead they found another team waiting to run them over.
95-34. The scoreline says plenty. The ladder now says even more.
Wicket Warriors have gone from afterthought to genuine contender in the space of a month. The scary part? They still look like they're improving.

🏆 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗞𝗔𝗠𝗢 𝗣𝗥𝗘𝗠𝗦 𝗣𝗥𝗘-𝗦𝗘𝗔𝗦𝗢𝗡 𝗡𝗘𝗧 𝗦𝗘𝗦𝗦𝗜𝗢𝗡
𝗠𝗰𝗞𝗮𝘆'𝘀 𝟳𝟭 𝗱𝗲𝗳. 𝗦𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗣𝗶𝘁𝗰𝗵𝗲𝘀 𝟱𝟭
Northland Cricket would like to apologise for the scheduling confusion.
What was advertised as an Indoor Cricket fixture turned out to be the first Kamo Premier pre-season net session. Unfortunately, one side appeared to be taking it more seriously than the other. For weeks we've questioned McKay's recruitment policy. This week it finally paid dividends.
The victory over Sons of Pitches is comfortably their biggest result of the season and perhaps the most unexpected.
After spending several rounds getting roasted by the media department, McKay's have finally provided a rebuttal.
The recruitment department survives another week.
The champions meanwhile remain contenders.
But suddenly second place looks considerably less secure.

😎 𝗢𝗙𝗙 𝗪𝗛𝗜𝗧𝗘 𝗖𝗔𝗣𝗦 𝗦𝗧𝗢𝗣 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗕𝗟𝗘𝗘𝗗𝗜𝗡𝗚
𝗢𝗳𝗳 𝗪𝗵𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝗖𝗮𝗽𝘀 𝟴𝟳 𝗱𝗲𝗳. 𝗦𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗰𝗵 𝟲𝟰
The season was threatening to get uncomfortable. Now it's merely awkward. Off White Caps finally returned to the winner's circle with a strong performance against Sn**ch. To Sn**ch's credit, they continue finding innovative ways to contribute to the competition. This week they appeared to use the team DJ primarily as a business advertising platform.
Every few songs, players and spectators alike were treated to detailed information about local products and services, leading many to wonder whether they were attending an indoor cricket competition or a networking event.
Several businesses received excellent exposure.
Unfortunately, the cricket team received a loss.
Whether the advertising campaign generated any new customers remains unclear.
Whether it distracted everyone from the scoreboard is considerably more certain.
For several periods of the evening, Sn**ch appeared less concerned with chasing runs than chasing new clients.
The cricket itself remained competitive for a period.
Then Off White Caps remembered they were supposed to be one of the better teams.
A much-needed win.
A much-needed response.
And perhaps a reminder for Sn**ch that sponsorship opportunities generally work better when your team is winning.

💨 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗪𝗔𝗥𝗥𝗜𝗢𝗥𝗦 𝗛𝗔𝗩𝗘 𝗗𝗜𝗦𝗖𝗢𝗩𝗘𝗥𝗘𝗗 𝗛𝗔𝗣𝗣𝗜𝗡𝗘𝗦𝗦
𝗪𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗶 𝗪𝗮𝗿𝗿𝗶𝗼𝗿𝘀 𝟭𝟰𝟵 𝗱𝗲𝗳. 𝗗𝗮 𝗕𝗼𝘆𝘇 -𝟴
This is becoming deeply concerning.
The scoreline alone is terrifying.
149 to minus 8. But somehow that wasn't the most alarming development.
For the first time all season, Whangarei Warriors appeared to be having fun.
There were smiles. Laughter. Actual enjoyment.
After eight weeks of ruthless efficiency and emotionless destruction, they seem to have discovered that this is supposed to be social cricket.
The result was catastrophic.
Da Boyz entered the evening hoping to compete.
Instead they became supporting actors in another Warriors highlight reel.
At this stage the league leaders aren't just winning.
They're evolving. And nobody asked for that.

🔥 𝗛𝗜𝗦𝗧𝗢𝗥𝗬 𝗛𝗔𝗦 𝗕𝗘𝗘𝗡 𝗠𝗔𝗗𝗘
𝗟𝗕 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝟵𝟰 𝗱𝗲𝗳. 𝗞𝗶𝘄𝗶𝘀 𝟮.𝟬 𝟭𝟱
Ladies and gentlemen.
It has happened.
LB Collision have won consecutive games.
For the first time ever.
Not a rumour.
Not a statistical anomaly.
An actual verified historical event.
After years of perseverance, optimism and occasionally questionable cricket, LB Collision have finally achieved what many thought impossible.
Back-to-back victories.
The scoreline itself was emphatic.
The significance was enormous.
Kiwis 2.0 arrived with confidence after upsetting McKay's last week.
They leave as part of one of the competition's greatest historical milestones.
Some wins are worth four points.
This one deserves a documentary.

Following last week's defeat, the Saffas were looking for a response.
Technically speaking, they may have overreacted.
144 to 1.
Smash It Up once again displayed admirable resilience.
Unfortunately, resilience was not included on the scoreboard.
The Saffas reminded everyone exactly why they remain among the title contenders.
One notable absentee remained Ash.
For a second consecutive week, the Saffas were forced to continue without their most frequently discussed injury.
At this point the evidence is mounting.
The injury may be legitimate after all.
Although a full medical report is still expected before Round 9.

Round 8 may have confirmed what many suspected.
Whangarei Warriors are operating in their own division.
Wicket Warriors are officially a contender.

And the battle for the remaining finals positions is becoming increasingly chaotic.

Round 8 arrives with one major question already answered.
Who will finish top of the table? Whangarei Warriors.
Congratulations everyone, we can move on.

The Warriors now sit comfortably clear on top and have reached the point where the rest of the competition isn't really chasing first place anymore.
They're chasing second. The real intrigue now lies in the battle for the remaining semi-final spots, the quarter-final race, and whether McKay's recruitment department can once again save their season.
Let's dive in.

Lion Red meanwhile are coming off a brutal reality check at the hands of Whangarei Warriors. To be fair, so would most teams. The question now is how they respond.
A win for Wicket Warriors could launch them into the top four conversation.
A win for Lion Red reminds everyone they remain one of the competition's most experienced sides. Expect tension. Expect banter.
Expect several lengthy discussions about how things were done better in the old days.

If Off White Caps lose this one, the questions become very uncomfortable.
If Sn**ch win, the race for the lower quarter-final positions becomes significantly more interesting.

𝗦𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗣𝗶𝘁𝗰𝗵𝗲𝘀 𝘃𝘀 𝗠𝗰𝗞𝗮𝘆'𝘀
For weeks we've discussed McKay's recruitment strategy.
It turns out they may not even be the best recruiters in this fixture.
This is less a cricket match and more a battle to determine which organisation has been most successful at acquiring Kamo Premier cricketers.
Both sides feature enough Kamo talent to trigger an investigation from the club's selection committee.
The difference is that one team is sitting second on the ladder and looking every bit like a title contender. The other is sitting tenth and coming off a 20-run loss to Kiwis 2.0. Which naturally raises a difficult question.
Are there better Premier teams to recruit from?
Looking at McKay's season so far, probably. Sons of Pitches continue doing what good teams do: winning games and collecting points.
McKay's desperately need a statement performance.
Otherwise the recruitment department may need to expand its search beyond Kamo.

The Warriors have reached an unusual stage of the season. Nobody is asking whether they'll win. The discussion has shifted to by how much. Last week's dismantling of Lion Red felt less like a cricket match and more like a warning to the rest of the competition. Da Boyz meanwhile remain one of the competition's most unpredictable sides. Capable of upsetting strong teams.
Capable of losing games they should win. The problem is that Whangarei Warriors don't appear interested in helping anyone achieve an upset.
Da Boyz will need something special. And then probably something else special.

After years of perseverance, optimism and occasionally questionable cricket, they find themselves with genuine momentum. Standing in their way are Kiwis 2.0, who finally broke through for their first major win of the season by knocking over McKay's.

Both teams arrive full of confidence.
Both teams arrive believing they should win.
But only one can leave with the result.
For LB Collision, the stakes couldn't be higher.

And that's important. The Saffas will be desperate to bounce back and maintain their place among the leading contenders.
The bigger question remains:
Will Ash return?
And if he does, will he spend more time talking about his injury or the game itself?

Round 7 was supposed to provide answers. Instead, it confirmed at least one.
The race for top spot is over. Halfway through the round robin and somehow the competition already has a clear benchmark.
More on that shortly.
Most importantly...
Ash was absent.
For the first time all season, there was genuine evidence that he might actually be injured. The investigation remains ongoing.

🔥 𝗠𝗔𝗧𝗖𝗛 𝗢𝗙 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗥𝗢𝗨𝗡𝗗 𝗗𝗘𝗟𝗜𝗩𝗘𝗥𝗦 𝗔𝗕𝗦𝗢𝗟𝗨𝗧𝗘 𝗖𝗛𝗔𝗢𝗦

Just when everyone had finished writing SlackCaps' obituary, they produced the most dramatic finish of the season. After being publicly dismantled by Wicket Warriors last week, SlackCaps arrived under enormous pressure. Lose again and panic would officially set in. Instead they survived.
Barely.
Sn**ch pushed them all the way to the final ball before SlackCaps somehow escaped with a one-run victory.
One run.
One ball.
One enormous sigh of relief.
The result may not completely erase the memories of last week's humiliation, but it certainly helps. For Sn**ch, this one will hurt.
They were one delivery away from producing one of the biggest upsets of the season.

In what many expected to be a heavyweight showdown, Sons of Pitches once again reminded everyone why they're the defending champions. The Saffas have spent most of the season quietly collecting wins and building a reputation as genuine contenders. This week they ran into a team that apparently continues to believe recruiting is a legitimate high-performance strategy.
The result wasn't a blowout.
It didn't need to be.
The champs got the job done.
The Saffas suffered a rare defeat.
And somewhere Ash was almost certainly offering tactical advice despite not being present.

Just when it seemed LB Collision's season was beginning to drift away, they produced arguably their most important result of the year. After several difficult weeks, they responded with a hard-fought victory over Da Boyz.
No drama.
No miracles.
Just a solid performance and valuable competition points.
For Da Boyz, the inconsistency continues.

Well. This is awkward.
For weeks the competition has wondered whether McKay's could keep winning without locating another former Premier cricketer. This week they didn't recruit one. And this week they lost by 20. The evidence is becoming difficult to ignore.
Kiwis 2.0 meanwhile produced their best performance of the season.
After weeks of good attitudes, tidy uniforms and moral victories, they finally collected some actual competition points.
And not just against anyone.
Against a McKay's side that suddenly finds itself under genuine pressure.
Expect emergency recruitment meetings to commence immediately.

The Match of the Round lasted approximately six minutes.
The rest was a public service announcement. Whangarei Warriors arrived against a leaderless Lion Red side and delivered another ruthless performance.
108-16. What was perhaps most unsettling wasn't the score. It was the silence.
Gone were the celebrations.
Gone were the appeals.
Gone was the chaos.
The Warriors simply went about their business with an eerie calmness that somehow felt more intimidating than anything we've seen all season.
This wasn't a team enjoying success.
This was a team expecting it. At this point, the discussion around Whangarei Warriors is changing. It's no longer about whether they're the best team in the competition.
They are.
It's no longer about whether they'll finish top of the table.
They will.
Halfway through the round robin, nobody looks remotely capable of catching them. In fact, right now nobody looks capable of beating them.
The race for first place may already be over.

Off White Caps entered desperate to respond after being dismantled by Whangarei Warriors. Instead they leave Round 7 with another loss and even more uncomfortable questions. Wicket Warriors continue climbing.
Continue improving. And continue making life miserable for anyone sitting above them on the ladder.

Peter is being recognised for his outstanding contribution to City Cricket Club since becoming involved in 2018. A dedicated Executive Committee member from 2020 to 2026, Peter has generously given his time across all levels of the game. He has served as Team Manager for youth cricket (2022–2023), supported Northland youth teams from Under 16 through to Under 19, and taken on Team Manager responsibilities for senior cricket from 2023 to 2026, alongside coaching senior teams in the 2025/2026 season.

Peter is a crucial part of the club, consistently going above and beyond to support both players and operations. Known for his reliability and willingness to step in wherever needed, he often solves problems behind the scenes to keep things running smoothly each week. His passion for cricket, commitment to developing players, and genuine care for the club environment make him a highly valued volunteer. Recognised as Most Innovative Club Member in 2025/2026 and Club Man of the Year in 2023/2024, Peter’s contribution has had a lasting and positive impact on City Cricket Club.

Round 6 may have finally answered several important questions.
Can Lion Red still evolve after several many decades of indoor cricket? Apparently yes.
And perhaps most importantly: Was Ash actually injured? The jury remains out.

What isn't up for debate is that Round 6 produced some absolute carnage as several contenders made enormous statements and a few others were left searching for answers, confidence, and in some cases basic cricketing competence.

🔥 𝗠𝗔𝗧𝗖𝗛 𝗢𝗙 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗥𝗢𝗨𝗡𝗗 𝗗𝗘𝗟𝗜𝗩𝗘𝗥𝗘𝗗
𝗪𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗶 𝗪𝗮𝗿𝗿𝗶𝗼𝗿𝘀 𝟭𝟯𝟰 𝗱𝗲𝗳. 𝗢𝗳𝗳 𝗪𝗵𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝗖𝗮𝗽𝘀 𝟰𝟱
Well. That escalated quickly. The highly anticipated clash between two of the competition's heavyweights turned into a public demonstration of why Whangarei Warriors are rapidly becoming the team everyone fears. Off White Caps arrived as one of the competition favourites. That's all they did... The number 2 ball supplier in the competition failed to fire a shot.

The Warriors were dominant from the opening exchanges, piling on 134 runs before dismantling Off White Caps for just 45. Perhaps most concerning for the rest of the competition was the complete lack of chaos. No excessive celebrations.
No endless appealing. No distractions. Just ruthless, focused cricket. If this version of the Warriors sticks around, the rest of the league may have a serious problem.

🧤 𝗟𝗜𝗢𝗡 𝗥𝗘𝗗 𝗗𝗜𝗦𝗖𝗢𝗩𝗘𝗥 𝗢𝗡𝗘 𝗪𝗘𝗜𝗥𝗗 𝗧𝗥𝗜𝗖𝗞
𝗟𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗥𝗲𝗱 𝟭𝟭𝟬 𝗱𝗲𝗳. 𝗟𝗕 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝟯𝟭
After approximately 15 years of experimentation, Lion Red have finally uncovered a revolutionary tactical innovation. A wicketkeeper. Remarkably, the strategy worked. The veteran outfit unveiled their newest and first ever tactic and it immediately reaped the rewards with four stumpings, two catches, constant banter, ongoing consultations with the umpire and enough advice to qualify as a coaching clinic.

The result was complete domination. LB Collision never recovered as Lion Red rolled to a crushing 110-31 victory. The performance raises serious questions. Not about Lion Red. About why it took them 15 years to try using a keeper.
As for LB Collision, it's becoming increasingly difficult to identify where the next win comes from.

⚔ 𝗪𝗜𝗖𝗞𝗘𝗧 𝗪𝗔𝗥𝗥𝗜𝗢𝗥𝗦 𝗛𝗨𝗠𝗜𝗟𝗜𝗔𝗧𝗘 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗟𝗘𝗔𝗗𝗘𝗥𝗦
𝗪𝗶𝗰𝗸𝗲𝘁 𝗪𝗮𝗿𝗿𝗶𝗼𝗿𝘀 𝟭𝟬𝟯 𝗱𝗲𝗳. 𝗦𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗸𝗖𝗮𝗽𝘀 𝟭𝟬
The result nobody saw coming. And possibly one SlackCaps would like immediately erased from competition records. After reclaiming top spot last week, SlackCaps arrived looking to strengthen their position. Instead they produced one of the most astonishing collapses of the season. Wicket Warriors were exceptional.
SlackCaps were... present. Barely.

The final score of 103-10 represented a complete dismantling of the competition leaders. Rumours are already circulating that SlackCaps are so battered and bruised by this performance they may never win another game. That feels unlikely. But after losing by 93 runs, nobody is rushing to defend them.

🔥 𝗗𝗔 𝗕𝗢𝗬𝗭 𝗧𝗔𝗞𝗘 𝗗𝗢𝗪𝗡 𝗔 𝗣𝗥𝗘𝗠𝗟𝗘𝗦𝗦 𝗠𝗖𝗞𝗔𝗬'𝗦
𝗗𝗮 𝗕𝗼𝘆𝘇 𝟭𝟭𝟳 𝗱𝗲𝗳. 𝗠𝗰𝗞𝗮𝘆'𝘀 𝟵𝟭
For weeks the indoor cricket community has marvelled at McKay's seemingly endless ability to locate former Premier cricketers. This week they arrived without one. And the consequences were immediate. Da Boyz produced their best performance of the season, piling on 117 runs and outplaying McKay's throughout the contest.

The youthful energy finally translated into scoreboard pressure and McKay's simply couldn't keep pace. Questions will now inevitably be asked.
Not about Da Boyz. About whether McKay's recruitment department has finally exhausted the available Kamo player database.

🏆 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗖𝗛𝗔𝗠𝗣𝗦 𝗚𝗢 𝗦𝗛𝗢𝗣𝗣𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗔𝗚𝗔𝗜𝗡
𝗦𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗣𝗶𝘁𝗰𝗵𝗲𝘀 𝟭𝟰𝟬 𝗱𝗲𝗳. 𝗦𝗺𝗮𝘀𝗵 𝗜𝘁 𝗨𝗽 𝟭𝟬
The defending champions have apparently decided that recruiting from one Premier club simply isn't enough. Having already acquired every available non-McKay's Kamo Premier player, they have now expanded operations into Tikipunga.
And the returns were immediate. The Tiki recruit finally registered a positive skin, while guest stars OJ and J2 combined for a devastating 55-run partnership that completely blew apart Smash It Up. The final score of 140-10 left little doubt.
Smash It Up were once again caught standing in front of a batting avalanche.
To their credit, they continue turning up. Which at this point deserves recognition in itself.

The South African Summit was supposed to settle bragging rights. It did.....Quickly......Decisively.......Brutally. The Saffas delivered one of the most comprehensive performances of the season, racing away to a 130-10 victory and ensuring there would be absolutely no debate about which side would control future braai conversations. As predicted, Ash was still heard throughout much of the evening despite his suspiciously convenient injury. Medical experts remain unconvinced. The Saffas meanwhile continue looking every bit like genuine title contenders.

Meanwhile SlackCaps, Off White Caps and McKay's all suffered results that leave significant questions hanging over their premiership credentials.

With quarter-finals rapidly approaching, every result is beginning to matter.
