Last Saturday afternoon the Northland Rescue Helicopter team dispatched two Critical Care Paramedics with its Onerahi-based Rapid Response Vehicle to help us out.

With Hato Hone St John responding to multiple high‑priority calls, their team stepped in without hesitation, offering reassurance, skill, and genuine care.

One of our players had a dislocated patella and the Northern Rescue CCPs were able to relocate the patella, allowing his family to transport him to White Cross for further treatment.

Northern Rescue says the logic of having the RRV based at Whangārei Airport alongside its rescue helicopters is all about supporting the local community on the ground in times of need, while also adding to the service’s capability.

If other emergency services are busy attending to other jobs, the RRV can be deployed to help out.

On behalf of the club, we want to express our sincere gratitude to Northern Rescue for their support over the weekend.

It’s incredibly reassuring to know that Northern Rescue - our community-owned air ambulance service that has been caring for Northlanders since 1988 and which has transported tens of thousands of patients - is now firmly part of the Onerahi community 24/7, 365 days of the year.

Moments like this remind us how fortunate we are to have people who show up when it matters most. Emergency responders - whether volunteers or professionals - carry a huge load, often without recognition, and their willingness to help makes a real difference in people’s lives.

To the Northland Rescue team: thank you for being there for our club, and for our wider community. Your dedication doesn’t go unnoticed, and we’re truly grateful.

A huge shoutout to one of our own, Hagen Robinson, who is taking on an incredible challenge this week for a great cause. 👏

Hagen, usually lining up in our 2nd Division Mclean Tree Services team, is taking part in the World Vision 40 Hour Challenge. His goal? To walk the Hātea Loop continuously for 40 hours straight!

All funds raised will help support children in the Solomon Islands who are struggling to access basic necessities such as food, clean water, and education.

This is an amazing effort and a testament to Hagen's commitment to helping others. If you're able to spare a few dollars, please consider supporting his challenge and helping make a difference in the lives of children who need it most.

Good luck, Hagen – we're all behind you!
