To celebrate Mid-Winter the club held a well attended gravel ride from the Waiotira Village and Community Hall. We had locals on E-bikes and MTBs, club members and a few speedsters from Auckland. It was a first being able to have a fresh coffee pre ride from Craved Cuisine Ltd.
Only a few photos as one photographer rode and the other was a timekeeper. Anyone keen to fill this role?
Watch this space - to continue the great post ride hospitality we are currently organising halls for the next 4 months.
The next gravel events are planned for August and October and tarseal road for July and September.

Great weather - great location - great coffee.

Sadly we also got some valuable feedback from a farmer about riders on the wrong side of the road. Riders take note! We have to be so careful on these narrow gravel roads.

More photos to come later in the week.

The Waiotira Mid Winter Gravel Ride on Sunday 14th just got better. Kat from Craved Cuisine Ltd will be at the Waiotira Village and Community Hall from 8am for your pre ride pickup. Please bring cash as reception at the hall is a bit intermittent.
We might be in the middle of Northland in the middle of winter but most importantly there will be coffee.

The youth group went on their first cycling adventure today - blasting along the Waimahanga Track was easy peasy. I think the smiles suggest we need to do more like this.

We spied this large rare snail steaming across the road during a course recon for the Waiotira Mid Winter Gravel Handicap happening on Sunday June 14th from Waiotira Village and Community Hall.
He may still be there - pupurangi can travel up to 10 meters in 2 weeks. There will be time added if you do run over one during the event.
The club is looking for a time keeper to help Ruth from 9:30 to 12:30 and a photographer to take interesting action shots. Message us if you can help.

The weather is not getting better so we will postpone the ride to Onerahi until next Sunday 7th June.

The youth cycling group is going to head out towards Onerahi on the Shared Path this Sunday 31st leaving at 2pm. Unfortunately the weather forecast is looking unsettled so a call will be made at midday to go or not.
