REGISTRATIONS CLOSE 9AM 8TH DECEMBER!!

Athletics Whangarei is proud to host the annual Northland Interclub Junior Ribbon Day a highlight on the athletics calendar for young athletes across the region!

This regional event brings together Northland club (and programme) members aged 7–14 for a full day of fun, friendly competition, and personal bests across a range of track and field events.

It’s a great opportunity for tamariki and rangatahi to connect, compete, and celebrate their love of athletics.

Date: 13th December 9am
Location: Trigg Sports Arena, Kensington, Whangārei
Entry Fee: $10 per entry

Expression of Interest Now Open | Athletics Northland T&F Team 2026!

We’re excited to announce that Expressions of Interest are now open for athletes wishing to represent Northland at the New Zealand Track & Field Championships, held in Auckland, March 6–8, 2026.

We’re aiming to take a 30 strong team of dedicated Northland athletes to this premier national event!

To be eligible:
Athletes must meet the qualifying standards outlined in the form.
You must be at least 14 years old by 31 December 2026.
Open to all ages above this.

EOI open: 16th October to 15th December 2025
Team announced: Mid January 2026

Further details on coaching opportunities, team preparation, and a uniform presentation will follow after the team announcement.

Please note: athletes are responsible for arranging their own transport to the event.

Juniors (ages 5–11): 4.00–5.00pm
Development & Seniors (ages 12+): 5.30–7.00pm

The Development group is also open to younger athletes who are ready to take the next step with more specific training.

How many laps can YOU do?
Join Whangarei Harriers this Saturday 23rd August at Barge Park, Whangarei for a fun afternoon challenge, open to everyone!

The concept is simple:
Complete as many laps as you can on a 1km circuit within your chosen time.
But… if you don’t finish your last lap before the time runs out, it won’t count!

A bell will be rung at the start of each time option.
Choose your challenge:

⏱ 3 hours – 12:30pm start

⏱ 2 hours – 1:30pm start

⏱ 1 hour – 2:30pm start

⏱ 30 minutes – 3:00pm start

Everyone finishes at 3:30pm
Run, jog or walk, it’s all about having a go.

Perfect for those training for long trail events, sharpening up for shorter races, or just wanting a fun Saturday run.

Followed by a relaxed afternoon tea together.
