Whangarei Ethnic Football Festival 2026
Hosted by Tikipunga FC and brought to us all by Multicultural Whangarei, Rotary and NZ Police. What a great day for the annual football festival that brings together our diverse communities in a 6-a side football Tournament. Rotary gave away free sausages and Cafe Latino supplied coffees and Black Mo Entertainment playing music while teams played. Here are the morning shots of the day.

Tikipunga FC is incredibly proud of our very own Keira Hynes, who is currently in Nouméa, New Caledonia, representing Māori Football Aotearoa on the international stage! 🇳🇨⚽️

Keira and her team have had a fantastic start to their campaign, securing two wins so far, with another exciting match lined up for today!

What an amazing opportunity for Keira to gain valuable international experience, develop her skills, and continue growing as a young footballer. We are so proud to see one of our own representing on the international stage and making the most of this incredible opportunity.

From everyone here at Tikipunga FC, we wish Keira and her teammates all the best for today’s game! 🧡💙

The match between young and the old took place yesterday before the Senior Prizegiving as the U24s played against the over 25s.
The “Old” team really surprised everyone when they scored in the first few minutes of the game rattling the young players who tried their best to score, dancing around the field, but the older players had some clever tactics up their sleeves, like a sneaky shoe lace for a penalty and a hand ball shout when it was actually a throw-in. They also faked injuries a few times, but the referee didn’t budge. So, they made some more dramatic rolls, but still, nothing from the ref.

Bees tried their hand at halting play making players hit the deck waiting for the swarm to pass!!

The young U24s had some clever tricks, like taking a few extra metres at penalty kicks when the ref wasn’t looking and then taking a trick penalty kick by the next player who was running in.

The old players scored again in the third quarter. The young players replied two minutes later, and that’s how the game went on.

Stafford Choat Bowl
Our 3rd Div team Tikipunga Fusion Civil played in the Northland Finals on Saturday at Trigg Stadium against Kamo Yovich Advisory.
Tiki supporters were visible from the stands and cheering the boys on.
Our boys may not have come away with the silverware, but we are proud of them all the same. Two goals scored on the day were from Joel Batson in the first half and Drew Kitchen in the second.
(Tiki's junior coach Roger Holmes was one of the sideline Officials for Sundays Plate match - Paihia v CB's women.)
